If you ignore the schizo nutjob who really hates it more than you should, people are generally upset or crestfallen with DT because of how absolutely abysmal dawntrail was in release storytelling. And the poor story made people realize the game is a visual novel and just how many major flaws there are with design and gameplay past and future. So it turned fanatics into fanatics, just against the game instead of for. The schizo could be (A) blizzdrone who really hates XIV (B) Barry who as I understand hates anything that isn't FF15. Or hates FF15 so much he hates FF overall I forget (C) Someone who perversely likes XIV and doesn't like how /v/ threads shit on it so they spam it such that moderators target these threads and always shut them down.

It's simple. The Blizzcuck enjoyed an unearned sense of superiority because he was playing "the big MMO." He picked correctly, and all those other losers who left to go play various "wow killers" all returned at some point. Even if they were friends, these acitvision dickriders always felt a smug sense of superiority.
And then at some point something happened. A game that sucked so badly that it was a joke was back, had been back for years, and actually seemed to be gaining popularity. Guildmates were logging in less, off in some other game, playing their catgirls and funny little short weirdos. Who knows, maybe the guild discord found itself with a channel for the sister "FC", whatever that means in the other game. But it keeps showing up in other places. Jokes that anon does not understand, stories mentioning characters that have no meaning to Anon. And then at some point, the server name and icon switched. The FC was the main show now, and the guild fell by the wayside.
Anon waited and waited. Waited for the spell to be over. Waited for them all to come back to WoW. And then they never did. Maybe they're still playing FFXIV. Maybe they got burned out and stopped playing MMOs all together.
And Anon's mind snapped. If his game wasn't the king game, who the fuck was he? He was some guy who wasted his 20s and 30s playing an MMO that will some day die.

If you're looking for something actually interesting, you could at least have found something visually distinct like Tera's Porpori - yes, ultimately they're still a requisite MMO sillyman race but their rotund bodies and animal heads at least made them feel slightly less like a human with a gimmick.
