Tried it for free, but man I fucking suck. Seems like its balanced for anything but solo.

I've beaten the game with a Vampire Monk and a Succubus Mage. Vampires are kinda blatantly OP IMO, so experiment with them. Also Conjurers, particularly human, seem really strong for beginners.

It's awesome, but a different genre entirely from the games you are mentioning. Barony is a love letter to traditional roguelike fans. It's like the devs made first person, real time, nethack.

You know it's actually wild to me that off the top of my head this is the first dungeon crawl roguelike in firstperson. It feels like the ideal combination.
What even are the roguelike elements, what kind of meta progression is there?

beat it twice, one the normal run the toher the one were you reach hell, it was cool, very fun with friends but eventually it becomes clear that magic is always the way to go even if you start as a melee focus class

Anyone wish Automatons were a bit better? It's the only other game where you can play TF2 Engie, but it's just kinda meh. You mostly just end up spamming bear traps and being really shit vs bosses. Maybe it's better in multiplayer? I'll never know cuz I don't have friends.

Beaten it a few times, it's pretty great. It's actually the first time I've seen someone translate some roguelikes to first person real time gameplay so well. It's simpler than most actual roguelikes but not drastically so and being in real time means it's harder to try to play perfect. Even really enjoyable in co-op since it makes food even more of a pressure point than it already is. It was in a much worse state years ago but I'm amazed they got it to where it's at now, since it's pretty special. I hope they continue working on it

Night and day difference. With 5 turrets you can easily shred the minotaur, assuming you have cannon fodder friends who can tank.

Whenever I wasn't scrapping, eating or crafting I was making potions. Mechanist is the best support + dps powerhouse hybrid class.

Wish I had friends who would play it with me, seems like it really shines when you have a party.
Maybe I should just swallow my pride and use some of the assistance items
