Labyrinth Zone is legitimately the worst experience ever committed to the electronic entertainment medium. An absolute affront to dignity and sanity. Indefensible by every conceivable metric.

I'm surprised by how many people thought this level was hard. I probably had a hard time on that stage only the first time playing it.
The worst part of the game is something that was on a lot of NES games and that's respawning enemies.

Really the worst part is that Scrap Brain Zone Act 3 is just Labyrinth Zone Act 4. Like what's up with that? It's stupid.

100%. The sudden rerun of Labyrinth Zone in SBZ Act 3 feels like a middle finger from Sonic Team. Like they ran out of ideas and said “you know what'd be funny?” And bam, underwater PTSD again. They could’ve at least changed the tile set or remixed the track or something. It’s literally ctrl+C, ctrl+V pain.

I almost never see anyone actually explain why Labyrinth is bad outside of "it's slow" which is actually just a skill issue.

main problem i can think of (aside from the water) is not giving any rings after the checkpoint before the final platforming section in act 3 and only giving you a shield
i have no issue beating it but i can see how that would peeve people
