is my father who plays spider solitaire on his ipad a couple of times a week a gamer? these stats probably include him as one, as hes playing a game, but he wouldn't call himself a gamer, he would say he doesn't play any games.
as many anons have pointed out in this thread, you can lie with stats
I doubt this is the distribution even if you asked every single person on the planet "have you ever played a game"
its very strange when you see companies act on data like this though, as if the people working there, who have a very specific demographic they are marketing to, such as people who will buy $60 (or more) games rather than who have ever played a video game in their life.
