It took liberties when necessary for sake of gameplay or storytelling but tried to otherwise maintain a semblance of historical accuracy. The places represented and its inhabitants were believable enough. The games are even used in historical documentaries and education sector.
What is the purpose of Yasuke? Why is he in the game? He sticks out like a sore thumb he destroys any suspension of disbelief. And what's worse it's not a fumble but a deliberate choice driven by ideology and malice.

Problem with Ubisoft and feedback is they're developed projects back-to-back so there's no real time to take in feedback. Maybe next game will once again drop the RNG loot bullshit because people once again hated how useless 90% of the loot was in Shadows. You can switch between them anytime you want when Yasuke becomes available after act 1, the story is largely the same regardless of which one of them you usel.

Central Japan from 1579 to 1582, the Honnoji rebellion is basically where act 1 ends, then act 2 has Naoe and Yasuke dismantling Mitsuhide's allies and later facing him in the Battle of Yamazaki, act 3 concludes their personal story arcs.

I agree, she forgives Yasuke way too easily, in one cutscene she was understandably pissed and threatening to kill him, then the next one they're already friendly with each other. I think the main culprit for this is actually Ubisoft's insistence in doing this non-linear story progression shit with the targets, since you can kill them at any order you want, that means no major story or character development can happen in any of those parts of the game, everyone must be in the same place narratively, so Naoe has to forgive Yasuke quickly so they can work together to serve that game design.
I would much rather have a linear story progression where they can develop the main story along with the ones specific to the Shinbakufu, as well as Naoe and Yasuke's friendship being more gradual, like she still hates him, but knows she needs his help, and he has to earn her trust and forgiveness.

This is the core flaw of the game. Except for Yasuke's time in Omi, they can tell the rest of the story entirely through Naoe's eyes. Instead we get an unsatisfying revenge arc for both characters, and we don't even get real answers about the MacGuffin Naoe was after the whole time or what happened to her mom. DLC I guess.

I think the game would have been much better with the focus of the story and gameplay just being on her. There's no real reason she can't use a bow or teppo either.

He should have been your Leonardo. Having you play as him not only set up the time bomb that was the political fallout of smashing all of sengoku Japan to pieces, but also raised many questions of why nobody would realize that the six foot eight black guy was actually the mysterious figure behind the assassinations all along and that he was directly tied to Noggabunga. I mean he has his fucking symbol on his chest.

It would have been way cooler if the diplomat cased the assassination, Naoe came in for the kill, and the Diplomat could raise his hands and say 'That's just a coincidence, I have nothing to do with that' while all of Nobunaga's political enemies just mysteriously wind up dead

The problem in general is that half of the game (Yes, the Yasuke portion) still sucks to play as. His gameplay is not fun. It's not why anyone plays AC games. It's a worse version of Ghost of Tsushima in every conceivable way.

Her husband has been dead for a while at the time the game takes place though, even worse he was killed by the Oda and she clearly resented Nobunaga for it. Historically, Oichi marries Shibata Katsuie shortly after Nobunaga dies, but then Katsuie and her commit sudoku together after they lose the battle to Hideyoshi, basically she never really gets to be happy at the end of the day.
