Bad youtube essays aside, I do think media can help you self actualize and break out of a depressive cycle. It's still ultimately just yourself but if guided meditation works why not meditation via media.

I wouldn't say becoming actualized is the same as being "cured" since you still need to work to stay actualized though.

Combo of things. To sum it up:
1. I got into DS1 late and went straight from it to Elden Ring. I went from being one of those people who believe these games have deep environmental storytelling to realizing the lore is just crap Miyazaki is throwing together at the last minute to justify his boss fights.
2. I strongly dislike Ranni as a character, which is only made worse with how hard the game devs are simping for her and very clearly want to railroad you into doing her quest.
3. Was hoping the DLC would fix the problems with the base game but somehow it was ten times worse in every way, hated the lore, the gameplay, the world design, left me feeling like I was being insulted.
