This thread is a waste of board space.
Everything that could be talked about E33 was discussed to death already and everyone already moved on.

Maelle-sama?!! You've come back to the painting?!! After I tried for ONE-HUNDRED YEARS to try and save our mother from KILLING HERSELF in a FICTITIOUS REALITY that she TRAPPED herself in because she couldn't HANDLE the fact I BURNED TO DEATH saving your life?!? Huh?!? You've decided to keep this TROLLEY going FULL STEAM AHEAD?!? And you will NEVER let everyone in Lumiere find the PEACE OF DEATH despite being born in a DEMIURGICALLY DOOMED WORLD that the STRUGGLE for caused human SUFFERING unrivaled by even the FORGES OF HELL?!?! Instead of MERCIFULLY letting this ABOMINATION die, where a bunch of power-tripping RETARDS played GOD with human lives over PETTY FAMILY DRAMA, you're going to TRAP and BETRAY the last VESTIGE of YOUR BROTHER's SOUL in a DEMIURGICAL HELLSCAPE?!?! The same BROTHER who SACRIFICED HIS LIFE saving you from an AGONIZING DEATH out of his LOVE for you. WHAT?!?! And to add INSULT to INJURY you're going to make me watch Painted Alicia, Clea and Renoir DIE HORRIBLY, and despite FORCING ME to ENDURE in this world for your own EMOTIONAL BENEFIT, you're not EVEN GOING TO BRING THEM BACK IN THE END??! You want THREE brothers and my personal happiness would GET IN THE WAY OF THAT?!?! And to make things worse for me you're not even going to bring Julie BACK for me to find CLOSURE?!? The Julie whom I LOVED and am HAUNTED in my NIGHTMARES for harming?!!? You're going to let her stay DEAD?!?!?! You don't care about my feelings or EMPATHIZE with me in ANY CAPACITY, despite EVERYTHING I, no WE, have done for YOU?!?! Well what can I say but YABBBA DABBA DOOOOO! WHERE'S THAT PIANO?!!?

When was the point where you realized how great this game is ?
Because Iโm 1/3rd in and about to drop it because the Mario RPG gameplay is meh
>>712739104My favorites are Lune and Maelle.
>>712719695But you never talk about anything related to videogames, discord tranny. Maybe because the "game" part of this crap looks like this?
>>712719239 (OP)I think the theme they're going for in the last chapter favors Verso, but I'll defend Maelle to the end as the only painter who actually lived among those of Lumiere and cares about them as individual people.
>>712740138Based. She's the only one who actually gets it.
>>712730624Funny that in Rebellion's ending I was rooting for Sayaka while in Expedition 33 I was rooting for Maelle. I guess because I don't think Homura cares too much about the stability of the world and what happens to everyone else as long as Madoka makes it out okay.
>>712739104I gave Verso the weapon that lets him do another attack after using the base attack. I then upgraded his base attack to the point where it basically gives him max AP after one hit.
Then I upgraded his free shot to mark enemies and set them on fire which set them up to be decimated by Maelle who I upgraded to get bonuses from all of that.
>>712719621i think that is the appropriate response
>>712719239 (OP)>Lune is the calculating logical one of the expedition>hear her childhood story of watching her parents leave for their own expedition >back then she held on to hope and believed up until the very last second against all logic that her parents had succeeded>finally sees the paintress wake up on schedule as if nothing happened, confirming that her parents are never coming home
>>712723110I think Sciel would be more playful. And I respect her midriff.
>>712719239 (OP)I'm currently inside the Monolith in Act 2, can i return to this area later for the Petank or will this area close after i'm done with Act 2?
>>712741405you can return later
Is this the first game to, in a roundabout way, tackle the Problem of Evil?
>God 1 wants to end a universe of sentient beings because he is tired
>God 2 introduces suffering and darkness to a previously idyllic world as a byproduct of an extra dimensional tragedy
>God 3 wants to eliminate suffering but recreate everyone in their image and largely for their own fulfilment
How do I make Lune good? Is she doomed to be just a healer?
>>712742007She can do big damage and heal at the same time. I use a build that revolves around Elemental Genesis. I only swap when I'm fighting a boss that I know has a particular weakness (i.e fighting a fire boss, equip all her water skills). She's the only character who can deal extreme damage with all elements.
i just finished the game at 30 hours in. is there side content? and is it good?
>>712742621damn you rushed through it. play the side content. a lot of it is really good and fleshes out some of the story and characterization
>>712742621There's some extra lore stuff and optional bosses. I'd say it's worth it.
>>712741405I don't think any area closes iirc.
>>712740331My headcanon is that Homu is primally all about Madoka but because Madoka loves the world, Homu learns to appreciate it a bit as well.
>>712719239 (OP)Im about 30 hours in and im struggling to keep playing. Its just tedious, the combat is exhausting and item management is plain awful. One more thing thats driving me nuts is also the lack of a proper map with pins or markers or whatever, i left behind a lot of paths i couldnt take or bosses i couldnt beat and chances are i forgot half of them already.
>>712742765>you rushed through itdamn, really? i think i explored every branched path and fought every group of enemies...
>>712742796do i just look around the world map? cool

>>712744857I just cheesed the endgame shit with a broken Maelle build. My cope is that Maelle being broken and stomping everything post-game is canon.
>>712745158You aren't that far from the end really. You can just speedrun right to the final dungeon once you reach Act 3, it's not too difficult.
>>712725741The fights a joke. I cranked HP to x100 and stun locked him with verso. Nuked him with stendahl/gommage until he died.
>>712746395Grats on looking up a meme build that someone else created just so you could cheese the most difficult boss in the game.
>>712746683I figured it out on my own since the game is easy.
>>712746395How do you stun lock him when he gets 3 goes at a time
>>712746774>the game is easy.So easy you need to look up obscure builds to progress.
>>712747095Autodeath+break bar. Verso uses phantom star to stun and follows up with end bringer to reapply. I just spam endbringer every turn.
>>712747248Nah, it's not obscure if you know how to read. Try again.
>>712747367>it's not obscure if you know how to readI don't need to look up builds because I'm pretty decent already at parry slop games.
>>712747367yeah... you could say... its clair
>>712747248Stacking damage luminas and doing gommage isn't exactly something obscure you need to look up.

>>712742007She only works in act 3 when you can break the 9999 cap.
>give Lune crit rate>give Lune cheater>do elemental trick>get lots of balls>cast HellThat's it. The rest of the stuff she needs for energy/cheater you'll be able to work out yourself by act 3.
>>712749321The game itself encourages you to cheese it with NUMBER GO UP inflationary health stats in enemies.
If you don't do it fights take like half an hour, or on some of the optional bosses like 45 minutes. I don't know about you but I think 10 minutes of parrying is sufficient proof that I've mastered a boss's bop it session.
In fact my primary problem with Expedition 33 is there seemingly no middle of the road intended way of building characters. There's sandbagging yourself to a wet noodle and basically cheese with nothing inbetween.
>>712742852Except original Lumiere
>>712743067I guess I'd like to see her learn to care about things outside of Madoka again of her own accord if she was able. She cared about the other girls once (She wanted to spare Mami in Rebellion, and I think she'd even say Kyoko was her friend), but she's been chasing the idea of Madoka in her head for so long and simply grew numb to everyone else dying over and over again to the point that it was less of a tragedy and more of an expected inconvenience.

>>712739374it clicked with me from the very start. if you don't like the game then you should just drop it, because the mario rpg gameplay is only gonna get more extreme from here on. it's a shame though bc the story, music and characters are some of the best in recent gaming, so maybe you can just watch someone play it or something.

>>712756353No difference in fidelity between wav and flac btw
>>712755794spotify hifi is effectively .wav. idk about apple music though i dont use it
>>712757101by recent i mean anything in the past 15 years at least. music in the game is easily the greatest out of any game consistency-wise at least. the characters are written better than 95% of games out there. the story is reminiscent of something like final fantasy X but the twist is written and incorporated way better. i genuinely think it'll go down as a cult classic in years to come, it's honestly great in every aspect as long as you like the gameplay.

But at least the boss is fun again, but even then I still have to not use Cheater because it's still busted as fuck and I can still stunlock final Renoir battle (Act 2) without it. Even The Paintress only have like 3 or 4 turns max while I build up Maelle's gommage. Maybe NG++ will be better but after this playthrough I think I'm gonna stop.

>>712760395Just watch the terrorist beheading video of the two Scandinavian girls in the Morocco mountains. That'll reset your brain, IDK.
>>712758387Except what she did to Painted Clea
The story goes downhill in Act III. The whole Painting twist is lame and honestly from the start i would have preferred them to keep the expedition theme and for our team to not get wiped out instantly but rather meet them in different places and have the story be larger scale.
The moment you learn it's all imaginary world, it feels extremely small, while when you start out you are excited about what might be there.
please do not lewd maelle. only lune and sciel are for that
>>712760319Yes, as Clea states both Renoir and Aline have been in other canvases for longer, though I think they leave vague how many years/months/weeks/days/hours outside translates to time inside.
>>712750082>She only works in act 3 when you can break the 9999 capFalse. Her, Monoco, and Verso do the most damage in Act 2. Maelle is overrated until Act 3, where she turns godly. But with the damage cap and abilities of Act 2, she's bottom tier.
>>712760959I've been on the internet long enough to be desensitized to that kind of thing
>>712761609Then idk go get hit by a car or something
>>712721725so the second option then.
>>712761113I like the painting twist, but really dislike how the final choice acts like it's solely about escapism and whether or not Maelle will let herself move on from grief.
The world was born from magic, but after all you see and experience as Gustave, I don't think that's enough to make me believe that the citizens of Lumiere aren't real feeling people. And saying they're just imaginary friends that Maelle needs to leave behind basically shits on 95% of the story's emotional investment.
>>712758498Better version
>>712761449Maelle is energy inefficient in act 2 but not bad. Verso is in a tier of his own from spamming sub 9999 hits 20 times.
Lune is both energy inefficient but also stuck wasting turns setting up orbs on top of that. She's even worse than Maelle before painted power.
If you're running the official act 2 cheese of spamming Sciel's turn delay mechanic then Lune has a place in applying her slow before it's Verso's turn to spam. But that's gay strat.
>>712762353I think there's no doubt that the people inside the painting are living breathing conscious beings but from the perspective of Renoir/Aline/Clea they've probably painted and scrapped hundreds of worlds and don't really see them as any more important than we see ants. For them the only importance of the painting is the sentimental value of their dead son painting it.
Renoir says there was a time where he was also stuck living his days inside a painting before his wife convinced him out. I assume a lot of painters probably eventually decide it's for the best to not get too attached to a world where you're literally a god playing with their toys.
Shitted my pants when this happened.
>>712721725Xenoblade if the story was good and not convoluted sci-fi bullshit
Just finished the main story, still have optional stuff to do. I'm around level 70. First time posting here about this game.
My general impression is that the combat is very good and fun especially if you like JRPGs. But the writing -- story, dialogue, characterisation -- is nonsense.

I've successfully turned Verso, Maelle, Sciel, and Lune into Gods. All that's left is Monoco, how to turn him into a God? I have that 9 AP void spell.
>>712762353Piggybacking on your post.
From what I've seen too many Versofags fixate on the "real" and "fake" aspect (also "muh Omelas situation") that they completely ignore everything else that factors into the dilemma. Like the real Alicia being a crispy nugget who can't even breathe without pain and how she has lived an entire childhood inside the canvas without her memories of the world outside. For her, it's not a choice between reality and escapism but a choice between two different realities, one of which she might not live as long inside but at least will be fully functioning.
>you have to face reality because I said so ok?mostly comes from people who only look at this situation as if they themselves were thrust into it, not as if they were in Alicia's shoes, having lived her life.
>>712760317Even if that were true, try another build.

>>712764286What didn't you understand? I thought the story was clear, renoir could leave it alone, except his wife would die if she stayed in. The only way to keep her out was to destroy it. I don't think renoir wanted to destroy it
>>712766883I agree, that painting is her life, up until the end, it was her only life. Irl I would try to talk sense in her to see that she can come back and also create new worlds where she has a functioning body
>>712719239 (OP)I got both endings, but the Verso one first and its the one I'd rather be canon.
Maelle's ending doesn't even make sense. Why would literally everyone in the family leave her to die inside the canvas?
>Clea: welcome back dad, what about my dumb little sister
>Renoir: she doesn't want to come out
>Clea: well fuck her then, I guess she will die in a few weeks and we will do nothing
>>712762353>I don't think that's enough to make me believe that the citizens of Lumiere aren't real feeling people. And saying they're just imaginary friends that Maelle needs to leave behind basically shits on 95% of the story's emotional investment.Thank for articulating this so well. It's exactly how I feel when I read Verssofags' reasoning
>>712767446It's mawkish. The attempts at humour are terrible "le esquie xD", "le monoco loves fighting xD". I'm not convinced the plot even make sense.
>>712768485Not trying to be mean, but are you autistic? Autistic people usually have big problems with humor, because they don't understand emotion and social cues.
>>712768485>>712768621I could see the autism thing, maybe thats it. I liked the "humor" in the sense that I feel like the writers weren't trying to make me laugh, but trying to portray the characters acting naturally and make one another laugh.
What is your issue with the story? I thought it wrapped up nicely at the end
>>712768035my guess would be the relative time differences between being in and out of the canvas.
just a day outside would have to be something like over 2 decades spent in the canvas.
>>712768621Other way around. Autists like you need kindergarten-tier humour and unrestrained sentimentality because you can't do subtlety.
>>712739104I like Lune but she's the least fun party member by a huge margin. Monoco is the most fun.
>>712769095Nta but he had that right autism makes it hard for people to get humor
>Verso didn't know it yet, but this is the moment when he fucked up.
>>712769748Yeah which is why it needs to be dumbed-down for him
>>712769895what, teaching her to play piano and bonding with her?
>>712770196Sorry for being confusing, I was talking about the game.
I don't think he got the "humor" because of some sort of developmental disorder. The humor seems to be geared toward making the characters more believable rather than funny.
He brought up autism being the other guys barrier and it makes a ton of sense as to why someone wouldnt pick up on this. I work part time as a care taker for people with autism/down syndrom and it would absolutely leave someone like that confused
>>712719239 (OP)I have not beaten it yet. So far i have not made any conscious builds either, just go around pairing the pictos which synergies are obvious. Barely raised attributes at all... like even though iยดm probably around the mid/end of act 2 and close to lvl 50 i probably allocated like 30 something points to each character.
I am hopping to be Lunepilled though. Iยดm not really using any guide for anything, just playing everything by ear but if she is half as obvious as Sciel it probably wonยดt be all that hard. I mean, they are French.
Speaking of which iยดm playing it in that language as i believe thatยดs how the devs probably imagined the game (even if they did the sync for English).
>>712762545Quite the forest down there.
>>712770994I didn't look up any builds, don't play games like this, and suck at the dodge and parry. With that being said I did alright, beat it on the medium option.
I don't care about builda, I use the things I think are cool
>>712766883To be honest after the small verso nodded when big Verso asked if he was tired, at least for me, there wasnt much of choice. Maelle unseathing after that didnt help anything either.
>son died and daughter crippled
>knew who did it
>insted of unleashing hell on them, she coped by going into canvas to be with her fake family
who wrote this shit
>>712773213We all grieve in our own ways bro
>>712773213Why is that unrealistic?
>>712767279You can do that with everyone, what matters in Act 2 the most is number of hits. Lune, Monoco, and Verso have the most attacks then, which is why they outperform Maelle if they're all built optimally.
Maelle gets her ultimate weapon much earlier so you'll probably hit 9999 with her first since she'll be starting in Virtuoso stance.
>>712725741I did. Sten to right above his fuck you move, then gormmage for 43mm.
>>712771461The fundamental difference between "Verso" and Verso is a spirit of self sacrifice.
"Verso" would flay a baby alive and trick it's mother into eating it if it meant he could finally commit suicide. Verso on the other hand jumps into burning buildings to save his sister and keeps painting for all eternity so his friends will live on and this despite his own tired desire for death.
>>712775640Yep thats the one I use for her. Her and verso were the first two I had hitting that high. It was around that time I really started figuring out how to do the pictos and stains thing
>>712759045>do not kill a single White Nevron until after you've gotten the max reward from Blanche and the achievement unlocked.Aw, I didn't kill the white Nevrons but never found Blanche
>>712771461I get the Omelas situation to an extent, so long as it's the cherry on top and not essentially the sole thing that led you to pick Verso. Not saying you are but there are plenty of retards in online discourse who just fall victim to the recency bias and throw everything else they know about the situation out the window.
There are several reasons to choose his ending that I understand. It just so happens that there are retards who pick it for the worst ones.
>>712763793Renoir's reasoning is that Aline is like a crack addict that will never stop trying to get back to it. But I still think it's shitty that there's zero consideration for the idea of locking the canvas up or sending it away.
>>712744196The game gets worse past the halfway point in Act 2 and really repetitive unfortunately, and the plot twist retroactively kinda shits on everything built up.
>>712776760I don't buy vidya often anymore but I thought it stayed good the entire way through. Some fights felt like bullshit, but overall I enjoyed every bit of it
>>712744196>lack of a proper mapdefinitely my biggest gripe with the game
hopefully the directors cut or goty edition will fix it
>>712739104I think Monoco was the only one I didn't use much. He had some very specific abilities I liked that no one else had, but some of them felt so situational that I never learned to use him like I used all the others.
Sciel was my favorite for support, but once baddies got strong enough to kill the whole team in one hit I mainly traded her for Lune for infinite revives and fire/lightning skills that could enhance every hit.
Maelle and Gustave/Verso never really left my squad.
>>712758387I'm still bummed we didn't get a Francois Clea reunion.
I don't know if anyone else has made this comparison, but Act 3 of this game is like if MGSV continued after the wild fucking reveal ending and you actually got to play through Big Boss' Outer Heaven arc in Chapter 3. I'm playing through the game for the second time, this time with English VA, and I'm glad that I played through the first time in French because one of Maelle's battle lines (let's spill some ink) really gives away far too much about the world that is revealed in the end
Also, I don't know why I decided to waste my time beating this boss early instead of just coming back at a higher level, but here is the proof that I did.
>>712744196>>712777218I thought it was generally linear enough that I didn't mind not having a map for every sidepath.
Maybe I just liked that exploration relied on you poking around, and not having markers and waypoints filling up the scenery.
>>712744196So switch to story mode and follow the lights.
30 hours is more or less when most are finishing the game, where are you plot wise? Act 3?
Also what the fuck do you mean about item management? There is none. They get refreshed every time you use a flag and you're only really limited if you do zero exploration. Most zones don't that that long and you don't need to fight the big fuck you side boss the first time you see it.
>>712777218The no minimap was intentional because what ends up happening is that your eyes fixate on the fucking corner of the screen and you play the game like a robot. I generally commend the decision because I'm 100% guilty of it myself. Its stupid as shit but its efficient.
Its only an issue if the map design is map, this game all you need to do is stand still and look for the light. Your path will always be lit up my prior expeditions. The path without lights are loot/hard fights. No zone is overly big either. You're supposed to take in the visuals and not play it like you're working the line.
>>712777442>(let's spill some ink)I didn't think that revealed too much. I just thought it built on the early game context of knowing that you're fighting a paintress who in turn paints the monsters who are guarding her. I thought that much was implied by the first White Nevron you meet.
About to start the game on hard since I heard regular difficulty was too easy. Can I complete with just four characters of my choice or is there a meta lineup?
>>712777814The game really isn't that hard once you understand how each characters' system gimmicks work and you invest into good picto/lumina combos. Don't worry about the character lineup, you're likely gonna be using all of them anyways.
>>712777814Different characters are probably better suited for certain boss fights, but I think you can make whoever you like work as long as you do alright with the dodging/parrying system.
>>712777814Almost every character can be built as support or attack and I haven't had trouble with any lineup. Just use the ones whose mechanics you like or understand the best. Eventually every character can end up "broken" and do ridiculous damage.
Most people at least build Maelle since she can shit out damage with less effort than the other characters. I suppose if you want to impose a slight challenge you could place her in reserve.
You killed my Gustave? Let him die?
1 million years piano
simple as that.
>>712758498>>712762545>bushI truly dwell among savages.
>>712777814I switched characters frequently without an issue. Only thing that gets annoying on hard is getting one-shot which is time-consuming when you're still learning timings. Act 1 on normal has okay balancing in my opinion, definitely go up to hard by Act 2.
>>712776059Are you retarded? Painted Verso chose to erase the canvas specifically to say Alicia and his mother. And real Verso's soul agreed and stopped painting on his own accord. He could've told P.Verso no, but he didn't, because he felt the exact same way.
How could you miss the point so badly? If all Verso wanted was suicide, he wouldn't have helped Alicia beat her father. He would've just teamed up with him.
>>712776751It's impossible for him to do that, because Aline is a better painter than him. Alicia tried to hide the painting, and Aline immediately found it and re-entered.
>>712739104>Act 1Maelle, Sciel, Lune. Gustave was too simple and fell behind really fast.
>Act 2Monoco, Lune, Verso, Sciel, Maelle.
I didn't get Medalum early on so Maelle fell off and others were hitting 9999 pretty fast. I got through Frozen Hearts in Act 2, and beat Sprong in act 2.
>Act 3Maelle just one shotting full groups was too fun. And then Verso would do the cleanup. Monoco was there to collect feet, and Sciel was there to do everything. I sadly left Lune behind.
>>712777346Lune's infinite revive/shield/AP build is insanely overpowered, you literally can't die unless it's Simon.
>>712777442Are you serious? Do you not understand French or something? Because every song with lyrics is a big spoiler about the true nature of things.
>>712780837What does being a better or worse painter have to do with being able to put the canvas on a train to Denmark?
>>712780712Damn nigger you're stupid. Maybe go do the Act 3 stuff and read what it says.
>felt the same wayNo, he didn't.
>Painted Verso chose to erase the canvas specifically to say Alicia and his motherAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH
Go look at Maelle's ending. "Verso" doesn't cry about my poor sister I wish her the best. He cries only for himself and not wanting this life. He's only about himself and the world can literally burn for him. That's also his key brake with "Renoir" by the way.
>. He could've told P.Verso noHe couldn't. Maelle or "Verso" decide the ending. Objectively.
All Verso responds to in the affirmative is that he's tired. But he's still painting despite being tired. Why? I guess you don't know because you're either illiterate or never bothered to euthanize "Clea".
>>712781727Not reading this drivel. I can tell from your very first line that you completely misunderstood Verso's character and the plot.
>>712781813K but keep me posted on when you actually finish Act 3.
fuck this guy, how long do i have to keep up playing perfectly?
I'm on my second playthrough and I didn't do a clean scrape of the world before starting over so I don't know if I missed it, but is there a way to break these weird root things with the blue cracks in them? I see them all over the place and my instinct was later my R1 attack would get an upgrade that would let me break them to get at whatever they are covering.
>>712782076Just 1 shot him bro
>>712782076Well, if you suck at the parrying part you can come back later and just outright kill him.
I did that, though on accident as I honestly thought he was a "come back later" boss and didn't have a gimmick attached.
>>712782395You need to find four of the lost gestrals to gain the ability to break those.
>>712724468id fuck her harder
>>712782076Don't waste time or effort parrying just dodge. You'll get there eventually
>>712782609I think I only ever found one of them on my first play through. Are they all on the open world like the first?
>>712782834There's only one other one in the Flying Manor. I think he respawns in case you miss his leg for Monoco.
>>712765720give him aids make him rape enemies
>>712782076Some optional bosses are ridiculously huge damage sponges until you get some late-game upgrades. You can always come back later.
I'm almost dropping the game, I suck at parry and I won't lower my difficult
Can someone post the face Lune makes in Verso's ending?
>>712776059I love how people never post what he says right after that
>>712739912you need to have european blood to appreciate what this game did for art. turns out you can have beautiful themes and concepts instead of degenerate jew slop like tlou2
paintress is beating the absolute piss out of me. a bunch of her attacks have almost no distinct sound cue that i can use to dodge or parry & the camera angles are super distracting.
>>712740806Are there any other modern JRPG-ish games that let you set up party members like this? I found this fun as fuck messing with weapons & luminas
>>712785702If you dump statted your Vit and Def like a chad then use the Shield pictos for a buffer. One of them has you start with 3 shields and 50% health, another one gives you 2 shields when you drop below 20% or 10% I can't recall exactly. Those helped me a lot, especially combining them with Maelle and Verso's buff skills that drop them to 1HP.
Aside from that, get gud or do some more pictos/lumina optimizing for more damage.
>>712786079I've run into the issue where 2 of my 3 main DPS: maelle & sciel do 2-3 hit combos at most & because of 9,999 cap the damage is lacking. verso carries me in this fight because of his multi hit attacks but he keeps dying since the paintress attacks a dozen times & she's faster than most of my characters. i'll try out your advice & buff their defense with skills & pictos to bulldoze through.
>>712787108oh yeah & the frame rates drop like crazy in the second phase so i'm fighting that on top of the panitress kek.
>I'm on the first Act just having fun and thought I'd come to /v/ where the most depressive cunts to exist live who take relish in ruining any and all fun out of a game live.
LEAVE THIS THREAD YOU DUMB CUNTS IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE GAME.
>>712787174What is your team? I'm pretty sure on point I had Maelle, Verso and Sciel there for the group heal. After losing a few times I reworked my pictos/lumina a lot. I ended up taking off the Confident Fighter because I definitely needed to be able to heal to cover my mistakes. If you're using Lune, keep stacking burn and use the Burn Crit luminas and whatever other damage/chance boosters you can fit.
For Maelle, use her combo that keeps her in Virtuous Stance and get your AP economy set up so that she should have enough to use it every turn. Sciel I just used as a buff/healbot with her ability that applies Rush/Powerful/Shell to the whole team and I kept Foretell stacks built up to pull off with her group heal. With the Shield pictos and the low HP booster pictos I'd have Verso and Maelle use their skills that drops HP to 1 in order for a Virtuose/A rank boost which would then stack 5 Shields on them. I also gave them the lumina that had them immediately take a turn when their health dropped low enough, and I believe I used a lumina on Sciel that made it so she immediately would get a turn when she rez'd so I could have her group heal.
>>712787284No shot, i avoided these until I fonished the game.
>>712789760i fonished the game, im currently buolding the choracters in now gome plos
I fought the giant fucker in the first ocean area before I went to the paintress. The fight took 37 minutes. Getting the cheater picto ended up trivializing the whole monolith area, so I'm pretty sure that fight was supposed to be done in act 3
>>712719239 (OP)This is the first e33 thread I'm in bec I was avoiding spoilers, and I kinda finally get where the plot is going after the end of Act 2. Before that point, I absolutely didn't care about the characters - it was just "Forgive me Zanzibart" galore, making it difficult to really dig into character motivations - and it kind of still is, outside of Verso, Maelle and Mama/Papa.
I like the story (basically a modern FFT:A, with more nuance and development) but the plot is kind of stupid. The exposition is a mega lore dump at the transition of Acts 2 and 3, and there aren't enough bread crumbs to figure out what's really happening before Act 3 - it was obvious that something behind the scenes was happening, everything isn't what it seems - but the exposition was always lacking and is begging for a second playthrough to really "get".
That said - the gameplay isn't good enough to merit a second playthrough (imo). So even though I want to experience it again with all the "winks" to a knowledgeable player, I'd rather play another game instead.
I guess it has some merit as some surrealist art, and as more of a narrative with limited player involvement or mystery solving but that's not exactly the narrative or type of game I am into.
tldr: it's good, but not great and not up there with the best JRPGs
>>712744196Just uninstall it, anon. If you're not foaming out the mouth in love with it around the first couple hours, it's only going to get worse.
Terrible, predictable plot and the characters are impossible to care about
>>712792835it was personally impossible to predict before the end of Act 2, though - the hints were very obtuse and not very useful to understand what the nature of the world really is.
which is bad
>>712792552In FFT:A I've always resonated with Marche's position. But somehow in E:33, I find myself more aligned with Maelle's. Time to finish the rest of the game I guess.
