Realistically, they are in different markets. They won't get the same games because the Switch 2 will obviously be much weaker than the PS6/PC and Nintendo has their own games that won't release on PS6/PC. The handheld market is getting flooded too, people that just wanted a handheld can now get one that goes along with their ecosystem of choice. Sony has their portable PS5 equivalent(that achieves that via upscaling) for next gen, Xbox has their ROG Ally, and PCfags have a plethora of UMPCs to pick from.

Even the price is getting a bit ridiculous, I wouldn't consider it something I'd be okay with my kid taking to school like I would with any of the Game Boys or DS consoles. If it let you download the roms it might be cool so that you don't need to go online with it all the time. The GBA form factor is fantastic, throw a good screen in there and it could be great. They need to add some more buttons though if you want Genesis games since the GBA only has 2 face buttons instead of 6. While true, Sucker Punch in particular does have a very good track record of developing superior sequels to their original new IPs. They're really one of the few remaining 1st party Sony studios that have not disappointed on that front yet, I think the female protag will be a tougher sell during a time where you have at least a vocal online crowd who will go out of their way to find reasons to hate something if it features a leading woman or minority as the protagonist but so little of the game has even been shown to be objective I would say it's too early of a call to make.

Not buying a PS5 for it, but I like Sucker Punch, and I've always have since the PS2 era. With Japan Studios dead it's the only studio Sony has left that I expect to release a really good game ahead of reviews thanks to Sucker Punch's consistency as a studio.

I would think it's a bit unfair to lump in Last Light with Infamous 2 or Second Son as it was more of a smaller budget title from that brief era where Sony was greenlighting smaller budget "midquels" like it or that Uncharted game featuring Chloe that I'm forgetting the name of. With that being said, I did consider Infamous 2 to be a much better game to Infamous 1. I wouldn't consider Second Son an improvement over Infamous 2 but to be fair if there is one other aspect of Sucker Punch that is consistent, it's that the sequel to their sequels tend to be less solid than the sequel they're following up from. I think that just comes more from Sucker Punch running out of creative steam by the time they get to the 3rd game before they move on to a new IP.

Obviously, "waiting and seeing" is always the best answer. There's literally zero fucking reason, especially for single player games, to ever buy or preorder one ahead of reviews and impressions. With publishers ready to jump the price of games up to 80 dollars, I think consumers in general are going to be come more cost conscious about the games they choose to buy and be more naturally inclined to wait and see before pulling the trigger on purchasing such titles. Most devs, Sony included, have continued to put their big titles on PS4. This year is basically the first year where there have been multiple games not on the previous gen, like E33 Monhun etc. but that's 4 years for the generation to basically just get going.
Now Sony admits they're still only gonna make a game a year going forward and we have reports that the PS6 is likely a late 2027 release.
So what, including ghost of yotei that's 3 games that Sony will release not on PS4? With the third one in 2027 likely getting a day 1 PS6 upgrade?

The new "Xbox" handheld signals that Microsoft is soft dropping out and next gen will probably just start releasing steamboxes that have access to console games pass, with maybe one disc playing console as the "standard" model
Dedicated hardware is really just Nintendo and Sony now, but Sony is getting dangerously close to just doing the steambox thing themselves, with how soon after release PS5 games are getting PC versions (and how, once Steam is on the next gen of "Xbox" that means even console exclusivity will be timed)

Maybe Sony dumping all of their resources into an incompetent Marxist cult that takes 5+ years to produce an inferior product for which there's no market wasn't a great thing. Maybe they were retarded to not see the problems that would be brought about by betting on Jim Ryan, Herman Hulst, and Neil Druckmann. Two of them are still top executives at Sony subsidiaries. And even Sony's CEO is avoiding directly acknowledging why Stellar Blade blew up, setting the stage to get the aforementioned Marxist cult to work on copying its gameplay without acknowledging that Eve being beautiful and charming to men was absolutely vital to its success while Concord's cast being repulsive was the main reason why it failed.

Neither Microsoft nor Sony are aligned with their customers, and it'd be better for gamers if they crumbled into dust instead of continuing in their current forms. Of course, the best option would be for them to course correct without compromise.
