They didn't do that, they do however have a copyright on the title keys and product keys required to get the games to boot on Yuzu and Ryujinx. The only reason those emulators got taken down was because the retards were distributing them on their official discord channels (discord is a known honeypot so why they were using that for piracy is 100% hindsight on their part) instead of doing what other emulators do and let rom sites handle it for them.
Besides, it's not like Switch 1 emulators stopped existing after those died.

That's not the point, it's about the feeling of really revisiting these games, with refreshed hardware you don't have to worry about replacing or repairing. And because the file sizes for these are so low (until you go past PS2/GC gen), you wouldn't need a lot of storage either.

People really undersell the issue of input lag. They'll see it as not that big of a deal, but it makes the controls feel clunkier than they actually are, and people then think it's just because it's an old game and not ass emulation. OoT on Wii VC got a lot of shit for the aiming being terrible when in reality it was the fault of oversensitive controls and not the game's fault at all
