Sticks are a lot snappier, they quickly snap back to their original position the moment you let go. Also like how the right stick is shorter now, makes it smoother to go from it to a face button.

Yep. Just the different feel to the plastic alone is great. I think it will not get all sticky over time, like my OG switch pro controller got (no idea how, I barely ever used it, maybe from heat or something, or from contact with other plastic controllers I left in the bag)
Anonymous No.712744097
>>712742786
>Is this worth getting if my old Switch Pro still works?
No, see >>712743792 , the OG will have problems eventually imo. Also you can navigate the controls on the new controller much better, you can clearly know which buttons are + and - because they pop upwards, whilst on the og switch pro they were holed up in the controller. Basically they're coded so that even a blind person can find those two buttons more easily. The new pro 2 plastic overall feels much better on the hand, it has that almost hand grease repelling feel to it, that even if you got some burger grease that didn't wash off with soap the controller will be fine.

>TMR sticks
A complete irrelevant meme, just like hall effect sticks. Greater accuracy on a fucking thumbstick is not relevant. What matters is if the actual sticks are decent quality. How they're made, how reliable the design is (99% of joysticks ever made fail via losing their mechanical center, how much resistance there is, the linearity of that resistance, etc.

Sticks are absolutely fucking silky smooth, among the smoothest sticks I've ever used even compared to the average Gulikit hall effect or TMR stick (joycon 2s also have silky sticks for that matter)
Sticks seem to be VERY slightly shorter than the original Switch Pro's
Player indicator LED is now on the top and not the bottom
D-pad is elevated a bit higher, but feels pretty much the same otherwise
Plus and minus button are also elevated higher instead of being shell flush
GL/GR back buttons are in a perfect spot to be hit by the pads of your middle fingers when holding the controller
Pretty much the same controller otherwise for good or for ill, probably give it a miss if you already have a Switch Pro 1, definitely buy if you're a collector or if you don't already have a Switch Pro
The headphone jack seems to have some latency problems, the actual sound quality is completely crystal clear, I can't discern any difference in sound quality between jacking straight into the Switch 2 and jacking into my controller, but there's a slight delay between what's happening on screen and what you're hearing. This seems to be pretty typical of wireless Bluetooth headsets and other controllers with similar headphone jack features like the Dualsense on PS5

Hot tip: the GameChat C button can be rebound to whatever else you want in the Switch 2's OS, it is not actually a useless button if you don't have NSO

I actually play some racing games on steam with my switch controllers, mainly the Sonic ones, and everything is just fine. I've always been the type to just fully let go of the trigger and then press again when adjusting my angle during a drift so no analogue ain't a big loss for me

fleakazoid's video touched it briefly and mentioned how a game with 3 different 50 cals (new vegas) moved to a game with shared "heavy ammo" for snipers and grenade launchers. When I learn of such design choices, it makes it easy for me to just "pass" on the game. Deus Ex 2 was disliked by many for same reasons

Nother one with a shitty d-pad.
I don't genuinely understand this shit. You do not need mechanical switches or anything like that for a good d-pad. What are they doing? You can't tell me the shitty d-pad on the dualsense is the best thing you can get that's not mechanical on a modern first party controller. Fuck right off with that.

>>712747757
depends on your definition of "better", nintendo's using better plastics and its sticks and buttons feel better, sticks moreso than buttons, i think 8bitdo pro 2 wins in actual layout (i like symmetrical better than nintendo/xbox layout) and connectivity + removable, replaceable batteries and having a game boy colorway with a ridged d-pad to match, but nintendo wins in the actual quality of the object, feature-set and edges out in control quality

if 8bitdo can get off its fucking ass and release an 8bitdo pro 3 with everything they've learned from the 8bitdo ultimate controllers i'll be able to make a better comparison

if some fast action online game requires some in-organic combination to pull off, then that's what you map it to. In splatoon the whole idea of jumping + pressing the "ultimate" key simultaneously feels "off", so I guess I can just bind the ultimate key from "right stick press" to the back button. I usually don't bother with anything but the bow too but I hookshot a lot with Fiery Aerolfos enemies to get them the fuck out of the air. Flat-out don't bother with Moblins requiring bombs because they don't give you enough time to even hammer that weakness compared to every other officer with an item weakness, usually by the time I have bombs out they're already spinning, and it's so easy to sidestep out of the way it's not worth it to actually engage with them "correctly."

The Pro is overpriced for what you get but Nintendo gets away with it because the included joycon controller is absolute dogshit that feels like it'll snap at any moment.
