I don't understand how this kind of thing works. If the rights are in purgatory, how would a lawsuit work if someone just decided to make new Blinx stuff? Could Microsoft do it with no problem just because they own part of it? What about the dead companies?

Yeah that seems weird. Copyright is a civil crime, now a criminal one. Unless microsoft owns the copyright to the character, and the dead company just owns some other part of it.

Make sure you pick up the Vulkan-capable build otherwise you are wasting your time. I played Conker and Mercs 1 back-to-front, multiplayer in Conker included with the renderer set to use Vulkan and it was like butter after the first stuttery-y 5-10 mins of each game.

It works really well for some games, others it can be detrimental and lead to crashing. If you're encountering freezing or crashes with OpenGL it is sometimes worth it to try toggling to Vulkan.

Same reason as PS2 emulation.
It was trivial to set everything up to play backups so nobody bothered with getting it working well.
You have a copy of Mechwarrior, $5 for an adapter and a thumb drive?
Congratulations you can directly plop your own dumps and pirated games from online right onto your xbox.
Gamecube emulation got as good as it did because playing backups on it was shit, and nintendo (basically) had the same system two generations in a row, and people actually wanting to dev shit for the wii and it just having usb ports made it really trivial for people to export that knowledge back to dolphin-emu.

Just wasn't as popular of a console and the exclusives don't have the staying power at least in the public opinion, in mine it has games that just hit different.
Mechassault 1/2, Steel Batallion (Find me a single mech game this weighty in existence), Gunvalkyrie, JSRF, PGR1/2, PDO.

XEMU is actually uniroincally getting better lately
People overhyped it about a year ago but it's a lot more "playable" with a good bulk of games now

Still a long way to go but a good baseline for things to come
Which is great because there's a lot of Xbox games that have better aspects than some PC ports (Surround sound support often being the biggest one)

because it is one of the games like MechAssault 2 Lone Wolf that was previously unemulatable; Conker had no working MP for years, Mercs 1 you could not exit the cargo plane in the introduction sequence and MA2-LW has been stuck on a boot loop since Xemu's first iteration, only becoming fully playable this year.

It would be like if Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 were fully playable on Dolphin with absolutely 0 slowdown or other issues.
