I always take Garlick.

Played this game for a bit, it was addicting at first but I don't really see the appeal. Eventually the screen is just all enemies, and you either have enough DPS or you don't. You just sit still for the final 10-15 minutes of a map and don't do anything.

Except this is wrong - even if he isn't trying to make you put more money into a slot machine, the game design is fundamentally predatory and crafted specifically to keep you grinding away at a dogshit game, and more importantly, keep you AWAY from other, better games for longer periods of time. You also incur similar psychological damage as actual gamblers do all the while, and the absence of real world money exchange causes you to let your guard down and incur MORE of that damage than you would through actual gambling, by virtue of money no longer being a barrier.
People need to realize that just because a game isn't preying on -your wallet- doesn't mean it isn't predatory in other, equally harmful ways.

The knockback increase garlic causes makes it nearly impossible to kill level scaling enemies with high amounts of curse, even more so on inverse runs.

Its not designed to rope people into playing for any longer then any other game. The game is designed to be played as a mindless experience for dirt cheap and then discarded like a plastic cup. People play games like vampire survivors to take a break from more involved gaming. Not every game needs to be something that takes effort. Like shit bro I got half an hour to kill, and I dont want something that requires any real commitment. Good thing games like vampire survivors exist! There are times and space in this world for both types of games.
