There's definitely some slowdown on original hardware, but I think it's worse when we do netplay. Unless someone makes a PC port and implements proper rollback netcode, I think the only solution is to minimize the ping between all players. Hard to do unless we're all in the same geographical region (I don't think we are).

are all the multiplayer stages unlocked?
I remember the multiplayer had extra unlocks in my youth

it remains a puzzle game and doesn't get much more action if that's what you mean. The bosses get more challenging though. There's lots of tricks with bomb jumps and stuff and getting deep into those mechanics is where the game becomes fun

It's just a shame Konami are too retarded to try and pick up where Hudson left off with the Battle Pack idea where the whole purpose was to make it as easy as possible for as many people as possible to play Bomberman with friends. Instead, they do lame bullshit like "season" slop, chasing shitty multiplayer trends that will not stand the test of time and only damage their games in the long run.
I can still convince my friends to break out the DSs and do straight up download play Bomberman matches for a few hours. There's still an audience for this shit.
