Meanwhile SB was a one and done release which probably didn't go over 20M in budget and even that is a lot. Factoring in various other costs it likely still made double what it cost to produce.
Not even saying Nikke isn't more profitable but stop acting as if comparing money made is the same as calculating how profitable a game is, especially when comparing ongoing live service games like gachas vs single player releases.

I dunno, I think in this case I'll give Sony a small W in that, withholding the release in this case probably helped build hype. But it's also that this was that SB actually had things for one to be hyped over.
Personally, if I was a Sony suit, I'd look at this as rather as a "wait and see" situation. You prepare your port in advance of course, you release on PS exclusively, and then you see how it goes. If it's a GoW situation where the reception is lukewarm outside of the normalfag sphere that are fickle and won't stick around for a late PC release, just dump the PC port soon as possible to cash in on FOMO and the release hype. If it's something like SB that's actually popular with core video gamers and has legs within those communities, hold off on the port, build even more hype, maybe throw in some goodies to release for everyone alongside the PC port (like how SB got the Nikke DLC) and that's that.
Of course all this requires a very ad hoc approach to publishing that I don't know if Sony's good enough anymore to do.
