I understand why people who did it the old way feel slighted others don't have to, but I soft agree with savestates being a nonissue even if not a good thing since a well designed game will have sections people can't progress by chance without the necessary skill regardless of how many tries they get.
That's how a lot of Arcade games work, for better or worse, even if you have free play but are shit you're just going to waste time until you give up naturally.
