I liked how cheesy the prologue was but the feel of combat is meh to me. I liked in Nier how animations could be cut aggressively by the dodge. Being stuck in a light attack animation just fighting tutorial guys is meh. I might get used to it for the clothes.

Dodging in this game is basically another parry. If you want to avoid hits and feel like you cant parry in time, you need to sprint away or position yourself. Also the game heavily penalizes you for getting hit. Eve can easily get stunlocked to death.

Honestly fighting mobs is pretty much how you handle them in dmc or bayo. You lead them away until you can pick them off one by one. Once you can fill up your beta energy you can also use your aoe slash to deal with them.
Also people forget that even normal moves have some small utility. The X+YY combo is a free but slower version of thst skill. Its great for clearing small mobs around you.

If you grab everything in your second run, you can just speedrun through the game on your third run. It'll take you a few hours at most with all your gear and cranking the difficulty down to Story Mode.

i have tried it side by side with an actual 4k monitor and the difference is almost negligible, 4k DLDSR is night and day compared to 1440p on the same monitor, it's a very underrated feature

I've actually been using it to resize RPG maker games so they dont look so tiny. Didn't realize I could use it with upscaling in this manner too. Gamescope even supprots using nvidia image scaling for the upscaling with the "-F nis" parameter.

I reached the underground laboratory yesterday, so far I love the visuals, not only eve. combat feels weird to me, if I manage to hit the combo and parry well it feels good, but it's easy to get stunlocked if there's more than one enemy, so far boss fights are the best because you can just focus on one enemy. Music is great and I think that's important if you will run around and explore the world. l I'd say that there is a bit of truth in ssaying that eve carries the game, but I don't think it's a bad thing. I hope there will be more megastructures, like the place in th wuhan or whatever the town is called where you put the large pill to restore the energy.

Once you get to NG+ or Boss Challenge mode and unlock Hard they get a lot better. There's a particular later boss I won't spoil who is a soggy noodle on Normal, but on Hard they actually give him enough HP to not tear like a wet paper bag so he becomes a decent challenge.
