>Arguably the most important story of the entire Western civilization
>Barely any vidya based on it
Meanwhile the East is shitting out dozens of Romance of the 3 Kingdom and Journey to the West games every year.
Hell even the Arthur myth is still getting way more medias despite having no canonical text.
Why don't anyone want to make games based on the most well known war and heroes of the ancient world??

Define story, cause I think it would be "modern mythology" in terms of ancient greek cultures. In terms of western literature, that would be "El Quijote" by Cervantes

The West has been occupied by people who despise its heritage since before video games were a medium.

No time or money to be spent adapting the classics when the cattle need another WWII schlock to remind them to hate Nazis.

The Iliad is basically a long, whiny soap opera about a bunch of sweaty Greeks and Trojans fighting over a woman named Helen, who apparently couldnโ€™t pick a side. Achilles, the ultimate drama queen, throws a tantrum because someone took his favorite prize, sulks in his tent, and only gets back in the game when his buddy Patroclus gets killed. Meanwhile, Hectorโ€™s trying to be a good guy but keeps getting dragged into this mess. The gods are just a bunch of meddling reality TV producers, picking favorites and stirring up trouble for laughs. Itโ€™s all swords, sandals, and overblown egos, dragging on for way too many books until Troy finally burns. The end.

greek mythology media is in a weird place right now, for some reason they want to take all the female figures from the myths and make girlbosses out of all of them.
Maybe they'll make a game where you play as Penthesilea and single handedly take out all the greeks

romance of the three kingdoms has a lot more going on, with more different sides, more battles, and more politics, it's much more dynamic and better suited to making games out of
the iliad has the problem of basically just being about one really long siege between two main armies. Most of the story is about the heroes and the gods, and different heroes dueling.
romance of the three kingdoms works because it's fairly open ended with what you can do with the story, you can have it set at a variety of different years in a variety of different places, at many different battles. But the iliad is much more story driven, and an adaptation would end up following pretty much the same story every time.
