I dont much care for it, but Kpop and doramas have been all the rage for a while now, and korean shows like Squid Game have been very sucessful world wide.

Nier is just misery porn trying to jerk out an emotional reaction out of you by being overly gritty and dark. But this is impossible because 2B is just not an interesting character outside of her design. Stellar Blade also gets away with is because you can dress Eve which ever way you like, but 2Bs design is too ridiculous to take the drama seriously. That being said, its complete retardation to think that good writitng is just tacking on however many character archetypes and quirks you can into a single character.
