You're absolutely awful at telling lies. The demo didn't have any bounds like that. There wasn't long to play and it was just the intro that we saw in the treehouse stream.
Most people tried smashing through stuff and did find things off "the beaten path". Some of it because the path isn't immediately clear without destroying more.
There was some kind of barrel canon section but I ran out of demo time as it started.
