Another favorite of mine is Morrowind, but it suffers from clunky combat.
Lately I've been playing Satisfactory and it's been one of the best video game experiences I've ever had. But it might not be too everyone's taste, and it's still in development so it hasn't really passed the test of time.
So I think a greatest video game has to be a bit timeless and influential and also addictive. I'm going with Tetris. It's simple to pick up and people used to experience it in their dreams.
I was considering Pac Man, because of Pac Man fever, where Japan ran out of 10 yen coins because they were all locked in the arcade cabinets. But it doesn't hold up as well today as Tetris. So I'm going to go with Tetris.
