>>712804317I grew up in town in Maryland called Elkton and then moved abroad. A few months ago I found out that the local government is suing this big company called Gore (however it's spelled) because the local drinking water was poisoned with "forever chemicals" and it's really dangerous. Turns out it's been that way for a while now. I asked my parents about it because obviously I'm concerned for my parents health and they said their area is fine, that happened to the drinking water on the other side of town.
Unironically, literally every single gay kid that I knew in school or in my hometown (or kids who grew up and then came out as gay or trans) lived on the side of town where that chemical leak happened.
I heard that this is a really big problem in most American towns. It doesn't seem to be a widespread problem in the country I moved to and gay people are pretty rare here. I fully expect that there will always be some number of gay people in the population but thought it was weird because the number of gay peoyin America seems to have massively skyrocketed. I genuinely think it's because of chemicals in the water. But I don't think it's intentional, I think it's from shit like what happened in my old town.
