Hit his arms while they're still attached. Block more. The rushing Burst Attack can only be countered at the start. When in the Dark Realm, do full Ki Pulses on the Yokai Realms the snakes leave behind for Ki regen buffs and more Anima, then kill the snakes. High stance works to kill the snakes off first, low stance to help with dodging attacks and positioning. Spend your Anima to refill your Ki.

Ops question aside, I think the nioh 3 alpha was really good. I think there some changes that need to be made but I suspect most people complaining about it just wanted nioh 2.5 instead of team ninja trying something new

Besides the obvious schizo shitposting, most of the complaints are people ignoring what they want is already in the game and ignoring everything that's been introduced because they're shit at it. Bitching about how Yokai are all summons when it's obvious they've just flipped it round so Spirit Skills fill the old role now as an example. The few things they need to add to maintain parity with Nioh 2 so it can be an actual advancement are just number of equip options and are also quite easy for them to do so, odds are they're already working on them. That's what the survey is for at the end of the day.

Not him, but the only reason to ever actually start a new character is if you want a true level 1 playthrough, since even though you can reset your level you can't return the skill points you get from levelling up and Proficiency. Otherwise though you can reset pretty much everything if you want without losing anything for when you want to go back, or you can pick any difficulty you want if you want to replay, with everything being consolidated on the one character to keep progressing.

That makes sense, thanks. I think I enjoy the challenge of putting together a build without access to all the postgame content, having limited skill points and resources like elixirs, and small stuff like collecting Kodama. For me the biggest loss is not having any Interim content because none of it resets on NG+ so I will not see any of the character interactions, talk to my momma again, do everyone's side quest to help them move on etc.
But in the end, Nioh's NG+ content is just too good to pass up on really.

High stance attacks, Changing Ways, Dragon Dance, Roar Power are some notable damage options but not all of them. Spend some time in the Dojo testing your attacks out to see their relative damage, it's there for a reason. If you need to save on Ki don't extend your attacks as much, they're also faster and safer. Besides that you have the standard Ki Pulse, Flux and Yokai Skills.

That's pretty much all you know at that point, you're forging alliances because they're helping you go meet him personally so you can get help in finding Kelley and your spirit wife. The story is not that hard to understand but the background setting is all built directly off of the history of the time period. The boss is fine if you approach him right, by exploring the level you can light the torches and then either leave them lit to kill the smaller enemies that join or use them for free fire weapon buffs. You also can't fall off while attacking unless you hold the stick in a direction.

There are four arena bosses in Nioh 1 (Giant Centipede, Umibozu, Giant Skeleton, Orochi). and are the worst bosses in the game. Fortunately, they are the only bosses that don't appear in The Abyss, so once's you've done them in the main campaign you will never have to fight them again.

Okay I wouldn't say Umibozu was terrible but I'm so sick of action games with big bosses where the most effective way to fight them is hit their hand when you slam their fist down.
The centipede was downright terrible though. And as a fan of Souls stuff too I'm totally fine with gimmick bosses and puzzle bosses(I actually think the FromSoft games lost something when they went more action focused as a fan of old King's Field games) but the centipede felt so badly designed since he never stopped moving after you broke his body. I'm guessing 2 has less bosses like this since Nioh focuses more on its action?

Anonymous No.712833403

You can hit Umibozu right in the face the whole time if you want, plus halfway through he just drops into the middle anyway. As for the Centipede, he's not great but you can just block him to stop him moving. The second region just specifically has environment based bosses to get you thinking more about how to approach them since you've theoretically gotten a hang of the base stance and Ki mechanics in the first region. It's also the shortest region in the game and things get better after it.

I started a new character after making it to Dream of the Nioh to wonder if I'd actually gotten good or had simply been carried by gear and levels. It turns out that once you understand the games mechanics, a lot of the bosses and enemies aren't as hard as they initially seem. I took odachi/axe and was pummeling enemies to death with all the basic shit you get before you really have good options. No moonlit snow redux, no spin to win, hardly any yokai abilities...and just dominating the bosses. Turns out they're significantly more fair than appearances would suggest.

Generally all the stats have their first soft cap at 10. You want to invest points to meet armor requirements and also in Stamina to keep your Agility at the appropriate tier for your build. Dexterity and Magic for jutsu capacity. Then you can dump into your weapon scaling, unless you feel like you need more HP/Ki.

Like the other guy said, get all stats to 10 first, as the initial boosts to all of them at that level are pretty noticeable. After that I'd say get strength and stamina to 20 or 30, to increase damage and carrying capacity as Odachi works really well if medium/heavy armor but you never want C agility. From there, I usually put dex and magic to 15-30 for various buffs from ninjutsu or onmyo respectively, 20 heart and constitution, and 15 skill/courage. The first NG you don't have to worry too much about where your stats are allocated, but around Dream of the Demon it starts to matter and at least one of your weapons main stats should be 99.
