I'm seeing a lot of people switching to Linux for gaming.

What makes someone want to have lower performance, waste hours of their life finding a solution to play a game, and then not be able to play the vast majority of multiplayer games and a large portion of single-player games?

Windows isn't spying on you. Windows keeps running perfectly.

I thought gamescope was a game changer. But now multi-monitor VRR is broke again so I'm back to no longer using it which means no HDR.

The only ones not switching are those with an IQ below 90; that should tell you everything.

Windows 11 Pro is still better, but desktop linux is now 'good enough' that I've made the switch.

a few months back i watched Mutahar talk about why he switched to linux and it was surreal.
he starts saying windows is actually pretty good if you debloat and disable spyware using stuff like O&O ShutUp but then something seems to overload his brains and he suddenly he says that's too much work/complicated just install linux.

Using linux isn't hard. Troubleshooting it isn't hard. Making something work that just runs off an .exe isn't hard.

I already know how yo use linux from work, games usually work off the bat.

I don't care about the spying, I just think windows is clunky and Linux works for me.
I've used both for extended periods of time, I think I have a better perspective than people who've only used one.
I'm not saying Linux is for everibody, but I think it's a valid option rather than a gimmick for homeserver owners.

Wish anything modern was faster on linux with my 4080s but i usually lose about 25% fps.

It's great for older games though. But anything UE4 or UE5 is almost always worse.

I haven't encountered a single game that doesnt work, save for some team ninja titles requiring ge proton for video codecs. Though I dont play multiplayer slop like LoL or Siege so I don't know what that's like.
