But I've got like 50 or 60 older pc titles on disc as well... as well as 200 vhs 600 DVD and another 200 Blu ray. And I've archived all of it. And when I do buy games, it's for literal pennies while on steep sale, or off something like G2A, then I download the game and personally strip steam from it so I can actually keep em.
>inb4 G2A is a scam blah blah blah
Never had a purchase revoked in all my 100+ purchases through it.

Why do console owners feel the need to justify their purchases to us PC owners?

Everything physical is a point of failure. My HDDs and SSDs will eventually die. So will your discs and carts. I can redownload all those console games whenever I want, and anything irreplaceable is cloud backed up.

they kvetch about consoles and can't decide which ps1 30 year old rom to play on their expensive battlestation so they end up shitposting on 4chan instead
and if they decide to play video games it's console ports and online trash like dota which is pajeet central

No loss though nerd. I regularly boot them up from disc still and I purchased most of them over fifteen years ago. All are pre steam titles as well. And I scanned all my game discs in essentially turning them into digital installers, so what's the issue?
Anonymous No.712810542 [Report]
>>712810421
Maybe, or shit can happen and some fails while you're shitposting. It's not something you can bank on, which is why people back up data with redundancy.

Actually this completely depends on your internet speed. If you archive your pc discs like I do, it doesn't have to read from disc itself, but from whatever drive you've stored it on. So install speeds are wicked fast.

it's almost like pclards enjoy getting the corporate boot up their ass every time they want to do trivial things like playing video games or saving files

Local space? You don't have a 4tb external book that you store it all on? I've even got them backed up onto LTO drives for further safe keeping. You realize how many companies went out of business flat out because they trusted the cloud? Let me guess, you let your neighbor fuck your wife for you too?

I enjoy redundancy and data safety that's not feasible for a regular dude. Cloud storage has backups upon backups upon backups in different regional locations. It's just smart.
>>712811629
I have a few 16TB hard drives outside of my media server, but there's no point in backing up games I barely play when I can retrieve them at 1.3gbit.

>paying to store, paying to upload, paying to download them again
And this makes sense to you? I mean I get the backing up aspect but it's as simple as that company going out of business and you're FUCKED and get fuckall. This has happened quite a few times regarding cloud services. Doesn't matter how many drives they've saved your data to.

The likelihood of both those eventualities is incredibly low if you deal with a major provider. Google, AWS, and Azure are pretty much here to stay, and "revoking my access" would only happen if I didn't pay or uploaded something obviously illegal and they browse my data (or if I were a CP hoarder and uploaded a known hash, but I'm not).

if you pirate games and backup your sht you are obviously outside of this discussion
on the other hand if you pay for air and Mr. Goydenberg's permission to rent a digital loicense (regardless if console or pc, but obviously on pc they adopted it first) you are an idiot and anyone trying to justify this is a homosexual fatoid
