Gacha games consistently have some of the most uninteresting and repetitive gameplay on the market. Their only appeal is cute girls. Cute girls can also exist in games that aren't irredeemable piles of over-monetized shit.

Gacha is a dead-end genre from an artistic perspective. Every good character from a gacha game would be a better character in any other genre. The story will always be held back by the shit gameplay and the need to advertise new characters through the story. The character arcs will always be held back by the need to introduce more characters to sell and never spend too long developing one character. The character designs and art will always be held back by cost-cutting measures and pandering to coomers. The gameplay will always be ruined by the need to make everything into a daily/weekly obligation, and the refusal to put any worthwhile reward behind any system that doesn't exist primarily to increase microtransaction revenue or reinforce addiction.

I dropped genshin after fontaine and before the brazil/blacks region and I play wuwa now, but genshin had a better story and wuwa has no puzzles or exploration post 2.0 and it's pretty gay.

1.0-1.4 were fantastic and I had no complaints. Now we get Zani having a stupid cape, no standalone Fleurdelys, Cantarella censored, no puzzles or hidden exploration objectives, bad pacing and bad story(though 2.2 and 2.4 have been okay), they don't release 4 stars anymore, we've still never met Danjin, they gave a free 5* male and keep releasing shit males meanwhile not a single shota since launch.

I tried playing genshin again but it just FEELS dated and I can't stomach it. I hope wuwa writing and characterization gets better, but looking at PGR that's very doubtful.

Spark systems(and showing gacha rates) are a direct result of Cygames, one of the scummiest gacha companies, ripping off players with Granblue Fantasy. It was a big scandal called Monkeygate where someone spent $5,000~ to get the character listed as rate up. But the rate up was a fraction of what other rate up units normally were without any indication of that. Adding sparking was acted as a way to save face after that, so was displaying gacha rates.

That was the second time Cygames' jewing resulted in big reforms to gacha games. The first was a system called compu gacha where you had to roll multiple parts from a gacha to even make a unit. You needed to roll every every part of Exodia before you unlocked it and they would be different rarities where you'd get the 2 easy ones and then the 3rd one would be a .006% drop rate.
