>>712819252As someone who knows how to write:
The entire conceit of Atreus getting ill because he's a god but doesn't know it is meaningless. The story could have been streamlined if Kratos was still batshit angry and was overly violent while Atreus watched. It could have been further streamlined if Baldur was looking for Atreus, and not his mother.
Impetus for story: Kratos wages war on the Norse pantheon because they're coming for Atreus (Loki)
End of first act: Kratos has been an angry violent asshole the entire time, and Atreus decides to follow his example.
End of second act: Atreus is becoming the thing that Odin feared because he's emulating Kratos. Freya helps Kratos realize that Zeus made him become what Zeus feared most, and now he's making Atreus become what Odin fears the most.
End of third act: Kratos learns to let go of his anger to be a better father for Atreus, who in turn also learns to be calm. They both deliver his mom's ashes as she willed it.
Hook for next game: Thor is looking for Atreus because Atreus' actions in this game have now warranted his death sentence.
It's genuinely not that hard to create a better framework than whatever this dogshit is.
