You'll notice that when Baldur's Gate and Hogwarts Legacy implemented official mod support they both went with a competitor, not Nexus. CDPR is rumored to be doing the same with Witcher and Cyberpunk. Bethesda obviously has their own platform they're pushing more and more. It hosts a lot of games but it's really a Bethesda modding site with small corners for CDPR, and the writing is on the wall for that. Good time to exit. What really happened is Nexus wanted to sell modlists and lock it behind their paywall, and they didn't want to deal with Arthmoor breaking modlists, so they prevent mods from becoming inaccessible in that context. What's the problem with Nexus anyway? Yes, I heard that they delete some trans related mods and such but aside from that, it's still single biggest mods hosting site. ModDB cannot match. Every big and critical (if you can call mod a critical component) mod is hosted here, some porn/copyright mods are either on LoversLab or other private sites and "discord only" (fuck discord btw) mods are small minority.

But more than that they've just done tremendous harm to modding culture with all the permissions lawyering and the constant cliquey tard shit. They've popularized the idea of 'mod piracy' which is ridiculous on its face, and anyone who's been around for a long time can see a clear difference in culture. It's really the same thing that happened to the internet as a whole - everything coalesces around a single convenient one-stop-shop, which in turn gives a single chokepoint for moderation capture, moderation fills up with terminally online reddit types, and now you just need 4-5 troons to capture and control the culture and discourse for everyone.
