The first BL was fine. Gory, crass, crude humor, edgy characters and the shooting was good too. But BL2 already toned down the gore, the edge across the board and added a ton of cringe writing. Just didn't like it as much. I haven't touched BL3 and BL4 doesn't look any better either.

As a big BL fan, I'll throw in my two cents: look at just the UI. If they managed to fuck up the UI, the classic Borderlands UI, they already did wrong. The whole thing looks closer to Destiny than BL, the color are so blown out and saturated. What the FUCK did they do to it?! I can only hope above all hope that modders will fix the UI, the graphics, and maybe, just maybe, I'll try it.

In this case, as far as visual clutter is concerned, all they really need is UI discretion during combat.
Have the compass disappear, prevent location popups from showing, hide the quest log, and move the ability meter lower into all that unused space. Reload should also be above the ammo instead of middle of the screen. The games always have audio cues for low ammo.
