I hate the subscription not because I can't afford it, but because when I pay for it I feel like I must play all the time to get the most out of it or money is left on the table. I switched over to a new pay once MMO and it's nice to play an MMO that doesn't require a sub.

What fucks me from playing this game is the fact character and class progression is beyond mediocre. I can't imagine putting in 100 hours into a character and it plays identical to when I started end-game with the only difference being I deal more damage and press an extra button or two every 2 minutes.

WoW is about personal progress. The way you play a character at hour 1 will be vastly different from how you play them after hour 100; and 200; 500; and so on.

You need to spend thousands of hours at a class/spec to start parsing at 99% accuracy (the chess equivalent of making the correct move at the correct time 99% of the time)

And if you want variety every patch will mix things up, so even if you mastered a class there's always a lot to learn again.

So while there is a lot of criticism for WoW I think you chose something that is actually WoW's strength. It gives me the feel of progression more than any other RPG that allows me to change my character's abilities well into the endgame.

Now if you want this feeling you can look at Destiny 2 where every season can be really different. But that is also a game where you can fully truly customize your character to whatever you want in a few clicks.

You are correct that there is a hard limit to how much you can evolve on your character's skillset. To compensate this there are 37 other specs to explore, and even if you are only playing arm warrior you can always spec them in at least 4 different meta builds and many others that are not meta.

And there is a huge difference in how the game treats you as a customer. GW2 has no subscription, but there is content and raids locked behind microtransactions (even if you buy all the expansions). Also tons of mounts. And I don't say mounts in the WoW sense of skin, but rather mount "classes" with specific types of movement that change the way you access content.

WoW never even asks me to check their cash shop. And said shop is 100% cosmetics. The closes p2w it has is a mount that brings the auction house along with you. And that's the absolute peak of blizzard faggotry.

I too am having a blast, fellow organic WoW player!

I honestly would be interested in starting WoW if they would reset and restart from day one with a monthly subscription but without any additional one time fees for base game plus expansions.
Preferably with updated graphics. So not just WoW classic.
