is /v/ ready for the next gen to be held back even more by the previous gen?

This is how all games should be programmed.
60 fps on major consoles, and then a decent port allowing PC users (or eventual users of new consoles) to push the graphics further if they want to.
It's because of this that I run Forza Horizon 5 at 72 fps on my PC, using only 50% of my GPU, while Talos Principel Reawakened, which is basically an indie game, runs at 40 fps on the same computer, even though it's much less impressive artistically speaking.

Consoles finally have decent SSDs now so I don't think gameplay will be affected. This is only bad for people who want full retard grafics. Graphics have been more than fine framerate and resolution are the biggest issues lately.

There is no broad unified standard on pc to develop games for so you will always be eating sloppy seconds to whatever is the broadest standard of games to be developed for. Be glad that platform isn’t mobile. And yes I will enjoy games on ps6, just like I did on ps4 and 5 without worrying about being “held back”. Playstation is the best place for people who actually enjoy games.
