I just started the game and it asked me if I want to turn off the DLC and seasonal events, from what I read I should at least turn off seasonal events but what about DLCs?
Or can I just turn on the seasonal events to get the costumes then turn it off?

The DLC stuff is a set of shooting gallery type events, styled after Nikke's gameplay, and the Nier Automata stuff is a little scavenger hunt across the two big maps for a special shop currency.

Both of them reward you with fanservice costumes, in short.

Disabling the camps when they're your only way to manually save on entering a new zone is the dumbest shit I've seen in a game in a very long time. I wanted to come off the game after just starting the desert and get the "Last save: 29 minutes ago" warning when I go to exit and had to fuck about for another 15 minutes looking for something that would trigger one.

Do the paid Dlcs add new trophies, or just costumes?

Pretty much. The option to turn them off is just for immersion's sake. If you don't care about that there's no harm in turning them on immediately. The Nier:Automata stuff has Emil's truck running around the wasteland where it otherwise wouldn't be, and it might feel a bit weird to have this hostile environment having a speedy vehicle running around, but that's about as much as anything will ruin your experience(which is probably not at all).

Seasonal is Christmas stuff in Xion and summer stuff at Great Desert Oasis. It's a bit immersion breaking, and changes the Oasis theme. I'd at least go through those areas with them off once, before turning them on.

Anything below High environmental textures look bad, luckily high only needs 6gb of vram. Eve should be set on very high as it takes very little vram and her model is very detailed. Run DLSS 4 and if you have to use FSR 3, use Optiscaler for better FSR or just XESS 2. The game is optimized as hell but if you want the best environment textures you'll need at least 12gb of vram for the 4k environment. The issue with running the game at native res while not using upscalers is Eve's hair looks bad unless you use upscalers or have a very good pc for DLAA but this seems to be an issue in all UE games.

Accidentally posted in the shitpost thread but I feel like this is worth discussing imo.

people keep saying how the story is like nier automata but the game has a whole has a lot of religious themes to it. Automata was more about robots finding humanity and what makes a human, whereas stellar blade is about whether trusting blind faith in a higher power is self destructive or not. A lot of the themes and excerpts in the game touch up on how many irl Christians feel disillusioned by their faith failing them in their darkest times which is reflected in many of the dead people you find in the world while some cling to their beliefs even to their end.
There are also two endings where you either discard religion for the future of humanity or you end humanity for your religion.
I think this presents an interesting contrast between japan and korea. Japan is largely atheist, so nier automata's message was that mankind were the gods of the world and robots aimed to be like them. In stellar blade, a game made by koreans which has a higher population of christians, man created god and god deemed humans as imperfect sinful creatures that (s)he destroyed, and that the next generation of creation has been made to fear and worship god

Nier dlc is so so but some of the outfits are really great and it adds nier music if you equip them. The NIKKE dlc adds new mini games and a boss fight and frankly it gives a lot of sovl into the game.

I bought this game on a whim when I really shouldn't have since I got memed on boring E33 but I'm generally impressed. I wouldn't say gameplay really hooked me yet but I'm just playing this to make my PC actually do some graphical shit instead of VNs all day. It's not too bad so far. Music is great, story is a bit generic but Eve's VA (KR) is winning me over.

The game is cool, the combat is flashy but has room for improvement (its not soulslop but its no Ninja Gaiden/DMC either, a thing in between)

nioh 2 is great, arguably way better than any souls game however be prepared to do a lot of inventory management because it has a loot system that is quite autistic and spammy, your entire first playthrough is nothing but a gigantic tutorial that slowly teaches you how each system works and there's A LOT OF SHIT in the game, imagine playing bloodborne but its way faster and the trick weapons have 3 forms instead of 2 in the form of stances and stamina can be manipulated with a minigame similar to gears of war reloading where you press R1 at the right moment and regain a big chunk of it after spending it, there's a fuckton of mechanics but its really fun and addictive

I think the issue many have is the idea that dodges are free iframes to negate harm.
That isn't the case in this game. It's no different from a parry in terms of blocking damage. Only difference being that parrying puts you in place while dodging moves your character around. Dodging otherwise, if it's not a perfect dodge, provides virtually no iframes. You actually have to rely on positioning Eve to not get hit in the first place.

I only finished up to Ending A regrettably. I know the game is an experience and Ending C up to D is magical, but the beginning of B where you play as 9s, is I just can't. The game doesn't have enough variety for me to push through this many hours. Gameplay was seriously one of the biggest letdowns for me in Automata. It's not as short as DMC where the combat eventually becomes stale, but there wasn't enough enemy variety and interesting progression system that encouraged me to push through.
I'll probably finish it someday I hope.

Meanwhile I probably wont replay SB after I finish it but at least boss challenge mode is available right away on the menu, just like MGRR's.

Automata and Replicant are good games conceptually, the stories and gameplay genre changes throughout are very interesting (Replicant has a better cast). The ost's are god tier and both worlds have this very unique feeling of melancholy that Taro nails, gameplay wise though they aren't good. This is why I call Nier as a whole an experience, its not really good vidya buts its a good experience
