All they really had to do is just make Ryu the front and center MC. I don't think anybody really wanted this new guy. At the very least, the better way to introduce Yakumo would be by making him a playable side character while Ryu gets the vast majority of main missions, like how other games had the DOA girls. TN thinks that a new MC is necessary to attract new and younger audiences but I'm really not sure that's the way to go. I do think NG4 is going to be a solid action game though, despite not being crazy about Yakumo's design. I'll probably grow to like him as I play it but I don't know, I think the two-tone hair was a bit too much.

They still could've emulated it & upscaled it but they chose to make a simulacrum of it that is worse primarily because of deliberately shit design choices and laziness. I mean I'm just assuming the latter is the reason certain running attacks have zero tracking though it is possible that they deliberately wanted them to be worthless against anything that isn't a huge enemy or boss. I wouldn't put anything past them after sigma 2 and NG3.

They haven't lost the source code. What has happened is that they didn't archive everything properly. They have 3rd party software to go with their 1st party software that only works on old Windows operating systems, and it's highly likely that the licenses for that 3rd party software has expired. Devs these days are now doing virtual machines to archive their games because of all the problems that can be caused due to licenses running out. Koei Techmo can do vanilla NG2, but won't. The question then becomes if its due to being too costly, or they won't out of spite.

Maybe. The Vita version ran at 30 FPS, so maybe forcing it to run at 60 FPS broke certain things. Or maybe they were already broken before, I have no clue. I've never played Sigma 2 on the Vita or PS3 to know if the weapon tracking was already fucked.

Friendly reminder Itagaki has only made one good game and it was a huge fluke with NG/NGB. NG2 was a rushed broken messed that barely functioned on the 360 and even after all the patch updates still had loads of problems.
DOA was never good under him. DOA5 was the first decent game in that series and he had nothing to do with it.
DOAX was always shit and so was DOAX2.
Devil's Turd is a laughing stock and he's done nothing since. Going from arena to arena with barely anything of interest inbetween makes the game boring. It doesn't need forced cinematic slop like NG3 (and likely NG4) but having levels that give players the freedom to explore and revist areas that aren't neccesarily tied to the main mission, with some fun platforming and puzzles on top makes for a more well rounded experience.
