"pirates" are not even a genre. Pirate movies have never been particularly popular, but there have been a few. Pirates of the caribbean was a good trilogy, and very successful, but now that it's done there's very few pirate movies again.
it's not really like mecha, which is an established genre with specific characteristics and a fairly long history (in japan at least). There's no niche pirate audience, but there is a niche mecha audience.

Mecha Break is going to be great. Only issue is the lack of customization to the mechs outside of the crappy extraction mode, but there should be a mech that suits your fancy one way or another. Better then Gundam Evo since it actually plays closer to AC and not just a generic first person shooter.

If a new mecha series comes out and doesn't reach Gundam levels in a season, it's axed. What new series, or even returning series, can you even think of in the past 10 years? Original mecha series basically did die in the 80s. The 90s were the peak, 00s was when Gundam started consolidating power over the genre with other series here and there. Gundam has been running the genre since the mid 10s and onward with any new/remake attempt failing. This is an objective fact. Again, what mecha shows can you even think off in the past 5 or so years that aren't Gundam.

In the next entry they need to completely rework melee combat and remove the stagger bar, or heavily modify it. Additionally, weapon range needs to be HEAVILY increased.
