>all games are just licenses
So what happens if it shuts down?

There's no alternative because pirating is too risky. Anything free is never done out of generosity. There is always a cost. I would bet 90% of torrents and direct downloads have some sort of malware whether it be a very very lightweight kernel level rootkit or keystroke logger.

You could be running a keylogger on your PC and it would use no CPU or GPU

Pirates dont even know if their own software is clean. Nothing is truly free.

Video games are entertainment.

FOSS is backed by billions of dollars from google and microsoft because they use it for their servers and many of the programs and desktop services like xorg are indirectly funded.

Linux is "free" but it's paid for by companies already in full. Someone has to pay it.

Plenty of open-source software has zero corporate backing whatsoever

Including some best-in-class software

The best video player on Earth (mpv) is open-source and receives no corporate backing

I don’t think it works, I tried putting “nonokosage” in the options fields, but it didn’t redirect me to the index or something

anything free is too good to be true and comes with a downside almost always, 99% of the time.

If its free you are the product, there's a keylogger or some sort of malware.

You think the lovely people at rutracker and other torrent sites just upload and spend HOURS upon HOURS of uploading, bandwith, all this time repacking for free?

Wont work if steam gets shut down or banned. Also you still need an account and the internet, and your account can be suspended at any time for any reason and you lose all your thousands of games.

Day one steam account holder here one of the earliest active steam accounts

You also only have a license for your console games and on top of that they have hardware based DRM and you can't do anything else with the device and you get randomly banned for anything or things you say in private messages LOL

Heres what happens if steam goes down. I lose my video games and don't give a fuck. It's fucking video games. I already played the ones I cared about playing

Is life about "having" to you? Having video games? LMAO fucking loser

Video games are a replacement for other experiences that you should be having instead. They're a balm for being a loser

You can copy all your games to a storage medium like an archival HDD, drag and drop a noSTEAM patch into each, and you have your own "physical copy".
