I think VAs should be paid in not real dollars but in in a credit currency that can be exchanged into dollars. That way the market can be more manageable.

As an esl I almost completely stopped using english voiceovers if possible because they often are the worst ones available nowadays. These VAs would have to pay me for listening to them.

For those who haven't been following the SAG-AFTRA strike drama - this woman (Corina) was fired (or more accurately recast) from her role as Paimon in Genshin Impact.

Now say what you want about gacha games, but this was a central character who follows the player around for the entire game and acts as the protagonist's mouthpiece. It's a role with tens of thousands of lines, in one of the biggest games in the industry. The role was extremely valuable for Corina and she knew it because she was actually still voicing Paimon during the strike despite supporting the strike and calling out people who didn't.

Her justification? She needed to put food on the table. When asked about her hypocrisy, she admitted she was a hypocrite and asked people to castigate her for that, but nevertheless understand the importance of the strike.

And now this role which was so important to her was just taken away in the latest game patch. Either she has become Buddha and gave up the role because she no longer needs to eat food, or it was because she was fired for her unhinged, unprofessional social media rants about the strike.
