I played Fallout 1 after I finished Fallout 3. I loved 3 and wanted to explore Fallout more.

Reddit tier thing to prioritize. nv absolutely does not have better quests, its extremely linear and you can get to new vegas like 1 hour into the game and finish it or get to the last Mr house quests within a day. the exploring as well as the map itself is a downgrade to 3, there’s little to immerse yourself in besides the vaults.

the only one with depth is the brotherhood quest line. the rest are half baked.

only real thing it might have over 3, except the combat itself isn’t that unique, because of the map a lot of times you’re fighting enemies just in the open so it becomes extremely repetitive. Not to mention the lazy cop out of placing cazador and deathclaw areas in convenient places so you don’t progress through the game too quickly.

New Vegas would've been a stinky pile of shit of Bethesda didn't give them a completed game and assets to work with.
And after the Outer Worlds and Avowed, I have no idea why anyone would interested in a TES/Fallout spin-off these days.
