why the forced hate for this game? most of it seems to come from people that didnt even play it.

I think the hate comes from boomers who only want single player games and do not want any type of semi competitive game. Even if it's a casual competitive game like Marathon. Boomers are the most scared, pussy motherfuckers out there. They just want single player cinematic walking simulators

i play extraction shooters THO. I just don't wanna play a marathon themed one that's gonna do very little to progress the setting and do very little interesting in it. It's just gonna be some lore flavor text like destiny and that's about it. Maybe add some S'phit enemies to the map come later seasons.
idc what the genre is, having it not be the exact same as old marathon would obviously be good but they will do inevitably nothing with the setting and this usage of the IP is just a way to get "butts in seats" so to speak

i think it would were it not new bungie at the helm. Honestly a marathon story being told through a live-service ARG feels very old bungie and marathon like but I just doubt the ability of these devs to do it and make it interesting. If you had old Greg Kirkpatrick writing I'd be all for it, terrible gameplay and all. But just considering how things have gone with bungie in recent years and the handling of this game it's not looking great
