I'm enjoying it a lot. I wish some 3rd parties/indies would get updates to take advantage of 1080p, but otherwise they all still play well.

I've got DK pre-ordered and paid for in full, and I'm looking forward to Raidou remastered this week since I've never actually played one of his games despite being a big SMT-fag.

Diving deep into Cyberpunk, game is amazing and running really well. Mixing in some Mario Kart sessions, mostly online, doing a lot of them (poorly) with the /v/ crew on weekends. Last week I won a Fortnite zero-build while playing in handheld mode. Playing F-Zero GX, winning GPs but filtered on just the second story mission. Playing some TOTK with the Zelda notes app, finding the caves I missed in the first 150 hours. Had some fun with the updated No Man's Sky, looks and runs way better.

Looking forward to DK Bananza, will get it day 1. Hopefully can finish Cyberpunk by then!

First thoughts:

If a Switch 1 game was programmed with an unlocked framerate or dynamic resolution, the Switch 2 will play those games better without a patch. For example, Resident Evil Revelations 2 has an unlocked FPS on Switch. Switch 2 processing power makes it hit 60FPS without any patches. Another game is Bayonetta 3, it has both an unlocked framerate and dynamic resolution. When the game is stressed, it drops the resolution to try to target 60FPS. On Switch 2 it is no longer stressed so it stays closer to its internal resolution (I think its 900p or 1080p) and locked 60FPS.

I am speaking about docked modes, I don't know nor do I care about handheld mode.

It's not a big deal since they're only light and not visible when the screen's on, but how? I didn't take it anywhere or pull it from the dock roughly or anything. Even more confusing is the scratches are all in the middle of the screen, there's nothing in the dock that even looks like it could hit against it.

The inside of the dock has that shitty glossy plastic, seems like anything can get stuck to the side of it and scratch the screen. Probably best to put a microfiber cloth on the inside of the dock like people used to do with the Switch 1. I just put a glass screen protector on mine so I don't have to worry about it.

Switch 2 is comfy as hell and I love it. Played breath of the wild after pulling myself off of online Mario Kart World and Splatoon 3's update and it's incredible even without the 4k tv. At the moment I am getting back into No mans sky but it's one of those games that you have to take your time with and get things to click.

Awakening is a standard 2D Zelda. Maybe the best one, depending on you ask. Echoes of Wisdom has lots of freedom and a fun little story, but the puzzle design suffers for it (you're basically encouraged to cheese through the game).

I fucking hate platformers.
I love tactical rpgs like FFT, so I tried Fire Emblem and it felt more like a visual novel than anything.
Hated Metroid, both old and new. Castlevania is superior in every single way.
BotW was a complete letdown. After 30 hours, I couldn't get it to "click" for the life of me. I found it extremely bland and empty compared to PC rpgs, and I heard TotK is even worse.
Didn't like Astral Chain, too linear.
I do like Mario Kart, Mario Golf, the Xeno series and Link's Awakening, but that's about it.
I'm also selling my modded Switch Lite tomorrow.

This is a genuinely dogshit opinion, but I see how you've come to this conclusion after saying you hate platformers. Castlevania (post-SOTN) is a kitchen sink of weapons and magic that just asks you to use your favorite swing or thwack to clear enemies, while metroid is much more tightly designed around using everything in the arsenal. This is why metroid combat feels so much tighter in casual play and why sequence breaking is so much more interesting in hardcore play.
Metroid shinespark alone makes 2D sidescrolling exploration so much fun, while anything that isn't wacking enemies in Castlevania is like pulling teeth.

I can't force you to like the game, but it's a genuinely different type of open world game. Skyrim and other PC WRPGs of its ilk are about splaying out events in the world but shuttling you via quest markers. BOTW has some of this but it's really about either getting lost in the atmosphere of somber nature or getting into a tense combat situation where you have a sandbox of tools to weave together (ie the so-called "chemistry" system on top of the collision physics).
I'd genuinely ask you to give it another fair shake on an emulator.

For the size, that's a tough one. I have small hands and the Deck does kill them at times, though my seating arrangement is the main issue. If you're interested in emulation, I would try out the latest Retroid Pocket. Not as powerful, but certainly portable and comfortable.

Exploration is very rewarding in that you're constantly given new shrines, stables, and eventually story beats as long as you keep pushing in each direction of your choice.
The map itself is "empty" in the sense that there are a lot of wide open spaces, but that's the thing: it's legitimately breathing room that establishes the atmsophere so that when something happens (you see a horse, enemies target you, a guardian locks onto you, or a lyonel charges at you), there's a huge contrast that highlights the shift in modality.

Anon don't take this the wrong way, but I genuinely think the fact that progression in this game is tied to technique, item discovery, and smart traversal, and very little is tied to numbers in bars that go up might be fucking with your expectations of progress.
I am also an RPGfag, but BotW is a techniques-focused exploration game, not a "bar go up after sidequest" RPG in an open map. This is ironic since you literally do shrine quests to make your health and stamina bars go up

Metroid is all about diversity of approach, since the whole point of that game is to use everything in your arsenal together, which is why every tool often has 2-3 overlapping features. For all of my criticisms, I've played all of the major castlevania games and even love most of them (order of ecclesia holds a special place in my heart), but IMO they suffer greatly as action game because their combat and level design is tied way down to levels + stats = "good weaponry", whereas in metroid I feel like I'm more consistently rewarded for avoiding enemy attacks while landing as many missiles at them while doing so, and that's more engaging in this format than dumping all of my special attacks off of SPEAR OF DESTINY+10 and RING OF DESTINY+10 because of stat growth synergy and because the spear has a near-undodgeable special

I'm tempted to get Bravely Default HD Remaster, but I really would prefer to buy it on Steam, so I'l wait a bit longer. For the moment i'm just playing Mario Kart World (which is fun; I was a casual player of MK8D now and then) and revisiting some older Switch titles to see how the games run, like SSBU, Splatoon 3, and BotW.

It took forever to get a screen protector on because I'm a gibbon, but I managed it. There's a small issue with the corner and there's some dust under it, but I'm mainly a docked player. I just didn't want it getting scratched in the POS dock when changing games.
Enjoying it otherwise. Plenty to play, and there's at least four titles this year I'm keen on. Maybe even five if Splatoon Raiders is this year.
Mainly been playing Super Mario Bros. Wonder, TOTK, MKW, and Cyberpunk. Occasionally play Street Fighter as a palate cleanser. I've got some Switch games I haven't gotten around to that can tide me over, too.

I went through fucking six. Ugh. I can't do the bathroom trick as it's a tiny room and doesn't have anything I could place the console on. Not that it'd be comfortable taking an electrical device into a bathroom.
The biggest issue I think is the screen is so large, and it's so easy to get air bubbles or just dust due to the size. And when you take off the protective film on the protector, it creates a static charge that's like an instant dust magnet. Alignment wasn't an issue as much as just getting the damn thing to settle with no fuss. I almost had a perfect attempt on go four by letting the weight of the screen protector do the job, but there was a tiny little bit of dust/hair that got under it that stopped it from sticking completely.
It's made even worse by the fact I have a husky and basically live in a fur-filled nightmare.
It's in enough to stop it getting fucked up in the dock, and that's all I care about for now. I've got two spares left, and at a later date I'll go somewhere sterile and try again.
It's just a shame America is so fucked up with lawsuits they have to apply and anti-shatter film but also cheaped out and put the most flimsy shit on there to do it.

Voice guidance isn't the voice memories. The voice memories are around 100~ collectable snippets of lore from Kohga, Rauru and Zelda that play automatically once you find them if you have the map open. It's a pretty clever integration.
