Why does it have so much soul?

Is it the only example of Chinese lore being presented well?

Because Taiwan is more westernized and liberalized (in some respects). when you work 80 hours a week and your culture permits no aspirations beyond dedicating your life to the regime, your soul and passion get beat out of you and you only want to play some mindless bullshit or jerk off in the little spare time you have. If your brain isn't totally drained from work you have more mental energy for introspective artsy shit, so more is made and consumed. This is why before the last century almost nobody who wasn't rich or being patronized by a rich person could do any interesting art.

It has nine of them in fact
But really i think the game is helped by a cool, unique aethetic (I can't think if any ither game combining Taoism and Cyberpunk shit), the story is pretty good albeit longwinded, and a 10/10 final boss as a nice capstone to end things on
Doesn't overstay it's welcome - just a nice, simple time with a good story and combat that wraps up in a reasonable time

Americans make the most money and work relatively few hours due to how much they earn but they haven't made a single good game for a decade

small studio / indie games are the only games that are worthwhile to play

This is cope. Elden ring is one of the best games ever made and it released fairly recently. GTA VI and the witcher 4 will also likely prove you wrong.

Not a single GTA game was ever good. Witcher and ER are just alright.

I respect what that game was going for but even as someone who enjoys shitty metroidvanias with unfiltered autism, that game just didn't function. That being said I could've dealt with the slavish copying of SotN and Hollow Knight if it wasn't for the fucking teeter animation every time you stop moving. Dumbest shit in the world.

I've played edgier and less polished games that were still more pleasant as metroidvanias. Dunno what to tell you.

Even with the focus on platforming it's more of a metroidvania than nine sols which is almost entirely linear

Crazy that the average Chinese works 10 hours more a week than taiwanese yet earn 4 times less (this is even when accounting for differences in cost of living)

I really don't like her mechanics.
It feels like a sleight of hand so you intentionally play it wrong for the next phase, thereby extending the fight a lot.

I think game peaked at Lady Eternity, but at the least it was entertaining
