So the fate logic in jojoverse is everything fated to happen will happen. Diavolo saw future vision of himself entering elevator and taking Trish away. The cat is out of bag now and this event is guaranteed to happen regardless of what Diavolo does. Diavolo's ability only erases himself from world and makes people forget the erased time period. It does not erase whatever Diavolo would have done in the erased time.
Exact same thing happens when Diavolo saw a vision of himself impaling the guy in your pic inside some bars. But the event is already set in stone. His fate is sealed. He will get impaled in bars. Diavolo can safely erase time to avoid detection just like that.
Diavolo is also fated to kill Giorno, the problem is GER ability prevents him from reaching his fate so he is stuck in a limbo.
That is at least what Araki was thinking when writing this confusing ability.
