Not the point. The entire reason buying a game only gives you a "license" rather than "ownership" is specifically to prevent you from copying and distributing it. As long as there are limitations placed on what you can or can't do with a product, you cannot legally have true and complete "ownership" of it.

This is true of books as well. Yes, you own the physical book, but you do not have the legal right to reprint and distribute it. Because you lack that legal right, you cannot truly and definitively be said to "own" that book.

Absolutely right. These protections already exist for videogames too. You cannot legally distribute unlicenced copies of Mario Kart. Nintendo decided they aren't content with the protection the law affords them so they took the law into their own hands using DRM to prevent the production of unlicenced copies, which would normally be a legally protected right

Sure, but that argument isn't legally defensible unless it's specifically written into the law. If this law didn't exist, the owner of a property would not legally be able to prevent you from just copying and distributing a game as you please. The reason this disclaimer exists for any media dependent on the distribution of copies is specifically to give those owners to legal right to press charges should someone copy and distribute their work.

So LEGALLY, for primarily their own protection, companies HAVE to inform you that what you are purchasing is merely a license, and then you do not legally own the code or copyrighted material within the product you have purchased. This legal distinction must be made to cover their own asses.

"Reprint" is actually part of it. Strictly speaking, there is no law to prevent you from making copies of a game, this is true. But what you can't do is redistribute those copies. In contrast, there is no law preventing you from redistributing the one copy of the game you DID purchase. We legally do not have the right to sell distribute copies/reprints, but we DO have the right to distribute legal copy of the game we own. If we didn't, then we wouldn't be able to lend them to friends, nor would we be able to sell them as second-hand goods.

The reason companies use DRM is primarily due to the overwhelming number of bad actors who do redistribute copies of their games online. If people kept their home-made copies to themselves and never distributed them to others ever, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
