SL and PS didn't elaborate on the story at all, it created its own continuity. The locked up box from fnaf 4 has been retconned and means nothing now and the missing lore of fnaf 4 was pieced together through the books. Scott Cawthon is a terrible story teller.

You can see the influence in FNAF World's active battle system, he's still got it when it comes to making good gameplay.
