I bought one in 2019. I believe it costed me 1500 bucks. Still plays everything comfortably but that's because I still play everything at 1080p.
I had hired someone to build me one before, but back in the 2019 crypto craze, the price for an equally powerful prebuilt was somehow lower.

What I can tell you is that a PC is definitely the best investment you can make as a gamer, triply so if you pirate games.

as a pc fag myself i still stand by what i wrote. for those who dont know much about computers or dont care to learn or wont use the pc for anything other than gaming, they should probably just get a console especially if all their friends are on console. if you actually want to use a computer for other things and want to get into mods, piracy, and other pc like things then getting a pc makes sense but prices for gpus have shot up so much recently i still wouldnt reccomend it unless your budget is at least $1000

To be honest, not really. It depends what you are interested in playing though. If AAA slop, just stick to consoles. The prices of GPUs are absolutely insane these days, and midrange GPUs have not gotten any performance uplifts in 3 generations now. PC is the best for simulation type games or emulation. I don't bother buying any console ports to play on PC, or games that were designed with a console mindset (basically anything Japanese).

Yes. Unless you can get an identical prebuilt for a substantially lower price.
It's worth it just for the sake of being completely familiar of how your PC fits together and what software is installed on it.
Save money buying a refurbished CPU, GPU or RAM (I've only done this through newegg and have never had an issue, not sure about other stores) Don't be cheap buying a new MOBO or PSU, those are the things you need to be brand new and somewhat future-proof.
