This is the perfect thread for this. I decide to get an Xbox console (the mistake being it's an Xbox One) because I wanted to play old Xbox 360 and OG Xbox games and do the whole "couch gaming" thing. I wasn't going to go full stop into a Series X|S, which is why I went with the Xbox One.

I don't know if it's because I chose the Xbox One, but this shit is horrible and I have no idea why playing games this way is somehow equal to or better than on PC. Not even because of graphics, but the experience. Why do I need to wait for shit to update before I use it similar to how you need to wait for a Windows PC to update before you can use it? Why is this asking me to download apps when it's a video game console? Why is downloading games on this so damn slow (it's because it's using an HDD)? And, even though it's my own fault for not researching, it's pretty much useless for OG Xbox games (360 looks to be alright though). I also realized "going back" to physical makes no since here since it's all downloaded anyway.

I don't understand why ANYONE would decide going with a console over a PC makes any sense outside of the issue with initial cost of entry. Especially not an Xbox (unless the Series X|S are better). I also know a lot of the issues I have are also prevalent in the PlayStation since it's just the way consoles are now. It's just different when you experience the shit first hand than reading about it. I can't wait for consoles to die since they aren't even consoles anymore in the first place. Forgot to mention Nintendo until just now since they've been basically irrelevant to me for the entire generation (we do have a Switch at our house, but it doesn't get used that often).

I went with the primarily because of price. I just wanted a system that would be able to play as many Xbox games as it could and I was under the assumption that "Xbox backward compatibility" meant it was backwards compatible with all 360 games and most OG Xbox games. I was going through a nostalgia thing, but I also wanted something that was at least able to play somewhat recent games even if they weren't the best version. Plus I wanted the old "couch gaming" feel again since I forgot what that was like for even somewhat modern consoles.

Never again. I haven't regretted a buying decision for video games as fast as I did with them. Modern consoles aren't for me at all.
