Now that watching movies on 1.5 speed has become commonplace and even normalized, when will developers allow us to speed up their games with similar features?

This is a genuine question. I just can't imagine putting on something I don't want to watch or listen to then setting the speed faster to get it done with. I'd just find something else to watch or listen too.

>Why not put on some background music if you're not gonna listen anyway?
I do that too, it's just sometimes I'll see a video or documentary that I'm sort of interested in and that goes on in the background at 2x. Same with a podcast.

Why? News are already a pretty fast and compact view. In fact you don't get much by watching them if you don't look further.

Documentaries are pretty similar in that regard, why would you watch a documentary if you have no interest on it?
You think you know but in reality you are just even more prone to misinformation and manipulation. You hear but don't listen, your brain is literal noise with the attention span of a rock.

Your fear of losing time is paradoxically the ultimate waste of time. Time is all you have. Your rabid consumption of it does not save you time like you believe it does, it merely robs you of fully experiencing it. In your quest to save it all you have done is washed your mind of it. So many people today are like you. My heart weeps for the man astray from living life fully, from feeling it fully. Feel it fully. Why does that scare you so?

I do the same and still can't be bothered with most modern TV, what would have been an arc for a 20 minute episode is now 55mins if you are lucky and three episodes if you aren't. i've never sped up a video, but turbo in Trails really spoiled me. i never thought of seeking an external turbo button til i started Yakuza this year, about halfway through Kiwami 2 i found out Trainer's had game speed options so i played the entire rest of the series with game speed increase, toggling it off during combat or minigames only
i probably saved 2 months of my life and made it through every RGG game in under 3 months. then i did the same thing for Octopath 2. i won't do it for every game but certain games benefit from it so much. i'll be more likely to re-play Persona in the near future now

People watching on fastforward are just "watching" in order to check something off a list. They're not doing it because they have actual interest in the thing. They're only consuming because the societal algorithm told them they must.

That's pathetic and cucked behavior. Anyone doing this is nonhuman and should be disregarded.

i did this with Mass Effect, modifying the ini or something to bind right mouse to like 3x speed.
Genuinely improved the experience and led to more exploration because movement was more bearable

also the loading screens were forced to wait until the load screen animation finished, so by renaming the shortest animation (actually rendered movies of jumpgates or something) to the names of all the transitions, i wouldn't have to wait as long, since the cutscene to cover up the loading wasn't as long, if that makes sense

Good games already give players the sufficient tools to control the pace of the dialogue, text speed, or even the cutscenes. Any game that doesn't do this or even worse forces you to go through:
>unskippable cutscenes
>forced walk and talk sections
Is a shit game not worth your time. Sakurai understands. I wish more romhacks did what Pokemon Emerald Rogue did, allowing the player to speedup dialogue, item pickup and even battle animations without having to use the emulator fast-forward feature. You could play the game at a snapping pace without sacrificing the music. It really was a breath of fresh air

There's already a huge problem with people who speed watch TV shows/anime who are impossible to discuss shit with in earnest because they barely manage to get the general idea of what they watch. It's more evident in subbed anime where people aren't even paying attention to the screen, but just trying to absorb the text as fast as it will show up.
Literally might as well just download the subtitle file separately and scroll through that and pretend you watched it. At least that would save you some time.

1. It hasn't been normalized. It's a symptom of the youtube algorithm pushing length over quality, so successful videos are all heavily padded. Nobody watches dunkey on 2x speed.
2. This is a marketing campaign to try and get people to consume twice as much content by consuming it twice as fast. It's going to work because repeating something over and over turns out to be the best form of marketing.
3. I was playing video games on 16x speed long before you got hired at your pathetic fucking viral marketing job.
4. I closed all my youtube tabs and bookmarks and uninstalled all my youtube apps because youtube is worthless.
5. More people are doing the same.
6. If the media industry is resorting to 2x speed already, the fall of capitalism is closer than I thought. Imagine living in a third world nation where you work as a slave so that an imperialist pig can watch bad netflix shows at 2x speed. Revolution is inevitable.

Doom dark ages did that, sadly it was even slow cranked to 150%. And that's the real problem, media just wants to hold your time hostage nowadays. Movies are now 3 hours and at the end you think ending after 90 minutes would have improved the story. Yt stretches a short 30 second sentence to 10 minute videos for cashgrabs and vidyas are just slow, slow movement, constantly taking away control or locking you in drawn out cutscenes to convey the devs artistic vision of boring you to death. Wouldn't have been necessary in the 90s to speed shit up and now it's too slow even at x1.5.

Why can't you talk about video games? That said, I started using fast-forward in every emulator that allows it this year. I've always abstained because of some perverted idea about purity in playing it that way it's intended, but all the gay Elden Ring memes forced me to realize how retarded that is. So many games benefit from the option to "Press key for x4 speed". Mario Party is much more enjoyable. Turn based RPGs no longer waste your time with animations you've already seen. Loading screens are skipped. Unskippable cutscenes defeated. Breeze through traveling sections.
To disregard these benefits as "brainrot", "consumerism", or "ADHD" is to be void of personal opinion, relying on parroting others just to have something to say.

My biggest issue with watching online streaming content is the extra time you have to waste finding something new to watch once a video ends. If anything I want longer content, not more ADHD fodder. Channel Surfing was an indicator of bad programming, but modern internet has turned it into the default state by making everything into 30 second clips.

nah, but boring or cringe scenes get skipped
>youtube videos
hell yeah when the faggot is talking extremely slowly to pad video lenght, which is almost every youtube video. 1.5x sounds like normal talking speed, 1.75x is still okay to listen to so I'll set it to that. 2x if the video is very long or the faggot is talking extremely fucking slow or boring.
The playback speed setting has been one of the best additions to youtube.

Good point. Having the mental overhead from watching a show once before makes it easier to appreciate all the little things you might miss during a first-time watch.
Same shit with vidya though. Games that are designed to be enjoyable on repeat playthroughs are some of the best ones - and the modern phenomenon of games where the dev only cares that you enjoy the first playthrough is cancer that diminishes the value of what could otherwise be excellent games. Gotta have some faith in the audience instead of screaming at them with flashing lights

it's simply more efficient if you have an inner monologue and are used to thinking while doing other tasks. those without an inner monologue can't grasp hearing something while doing another task and having it stick.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! No you don't. You can barely read at 6th grade level. Statistically you are a virgin kissless loser who don't have a good education. It makes sense you're thinking like this.

You will never be able to become anything advanced. You will never have a family or a community to take care of. You think you can 2x things to become an engineer? No. You'll destroy things and then get fired for incompetence.

This is why there is a competency crisis right now. Retards who thinks that 2x listening to worthless shit will help them. Holy fuck.
