Thanks for correcting the record but i believe a lot of east europe is still under the old soviet elite, and Russia is primarily the biggest one where it is noticeable. Of where the old nomenklatura class is still in positions of power. Old KGB agents don't suddenly stop being KGB, nor was that organization ever dismantled in 1991 because the FSB is not the same thing nor did any lustration laws pass to ensure it's complete liquidation or dismantling. And as such the CPSU isn't dormant for that reason.
