Gameplay was dogshit, dungeons were ass, story was slop, UI was gaudy and too tryhard, music was clunge, VA was cringe, characters were ugly and retarded. It was a total flop failure. Nobody I know that played it says that it was better than P5, let alone P3 that outshone it.

It was good but I wish it felt more willing to stray from the Persona formula. I like Persona, and I like the Persona formula enough that I'm dismissive of it when people suggest P6 do some big changes to it, but Metaphor had free-license to be a big change and it ends up feeling like more of the same. I don't even think it was the best Atlus game that year seeing as SMTV:V was better, and so was Unicorn Overlord if you want to count an Atlus game as any game published by them.

It's better than persona imo. More balanced pacing of story & combat, less autism required as no fusions (some could see this as a negative), better voice acting and presentation. The only letdown was the music really. After I finished it I wanted more and wished there was an optional hard endgame dungeon, whenever I finished a persona game I felt tired and glad it was finally over.

I felt the same until about 1/3 through then it clicked and I started really enjoying it. The system is a bit limited at first when you don't have enough archetypes unlocked. They really need to stop with the stupid unlocking party members near the endgame though, you should have every party member by at the latest 1/2 through the game.

"X has been le forgotten" is not a valid criticism for anything and it never will be.
