I was so looking forward to DD2 and I was still attacked so many times by mentally ill fanboys accusing me of "being from discord" just for stating logical observations - like the enemy variety looks poor or there likely won't be more vocations. Logical predictions that quickly turned into objective facts upon release.

Peak schizo madness was when they said "discord" had infiltrated a gaming website well in advance just to put out a negative preview of DD2, just because it confirmed there weren't any more vocations. It's embarrassing to like the same game as these people.

Still had fun with it for a week. Now I barely touch it, they needed to add more pawn interactions, (pat, pet, hug, carry bridal style etc.), a livelier world, more enemy variety, non-escort sidequests or kill xx's of yy's. The forests are thick and comfy though so 10/10 for forests alone.

the MMO still ran for 4 years, which is considerably longer than most japanese MMOs. monster hunter online, a chinese only monster hunter MMO, launched around the same time and died around the same time. most MMOs in general are not long lived, as it is difficult to retain a playerbase and keep servers up and running.

Mistake a lot of people made was thinking all that stuff from the DD1 pitch document like the moon levels was "cut content". Because it wasn't, almost none of that shit left the initial conception stage. It wasn't some great vision that they were forced to curb right before release, it was just ideas they were throwing around before they worked out what they could actually do with the budget and technology at hand. DD2 was never going to be a fully-realized version of that pitch because that pitch was forgotten as soon as actual work began on DD1.
