portal was one of the first pc games i played, i used to noclip around and when i would fly outside the map it was completely dark, i was scared i would stray too far and get lost

This is why single player games have died. Zoomers are fucking brainfried from eternal constant social interaction, they have to have a constant voice or interaction point at all times buzzing in their fucking ear stimulating them. The thought of exploring an area alone sends them into a fucking panic, and it's also why characters in games talk CONSTANTLY to themselves instead of just quietly exploring. It's also why every game is third person now, because they HAVE to see a person, otherwise it makes them feel alone and freaked out.
