Yeah, even if the kart diversity seems to have landed on Baby Blooper for now I like that even as I get super high up the characters are staying pretty diverse. Apparently Handling is the most important stat as opposed to Weight or Speed this go around, and given that's the stats that's most easily modified by karts it means there's littel by way of a character meta forming just yet

Around 8100 or so you absolutely lose points for getting around 5th or lower. Even worse is that those rooms tend to have less players which massively fucks with VR gain/loss so you can end up losing upwards of like 60 for even just a mediocre placement

I've reached 9k. Some advice from me is to try light bagging, chill in 2nd with a triple banana or shell, so you don't have to worry about blues and first can take the hit. Try to avoid being in first without a blue shell dodge item. Don't be greedy with grabbing double item boxes when they can get stolen out of nowhere. Practice time trials to learn optimal lines. Hold on to shrooms if a good cut is coming up. I think actual bagging is a meme and you won't learn how to become a good player from it. Good luck anon.

-all major shroomless shortcuts (bowser’s castle, block ruins, faraway oasis etc). just knowing where they are at will help immensely if you have a feather at the right time

The different speed stats are so fucking stupid given the sheer imbalance of their distribution. In order to balance it Road speed should've stayed +1, but terrain should've been +2 and Water +3 to balance how utterly rare it is.

Racing controls and time trials are perfection, game feels amazing in perfect conditions. Free roam is shit, intermissions are shit, and picking random online is fustrating to avoid it. Depends what you care about

It's the truth if you take off your Nintendo goggles. Go play even MK8 and see how slow World is in comparison. Look at all the tracks in the game that are just straight lines and one or two big curvers. Look at the joke that is online with being forced to play intermission tracks unless you pick random. The entire point of the game is an "open world" which is just a bunch of nothing with blue switches on it that make you drive through rings. Wall riding and rail grinding are nice additions that have potential but don't make up for the all the main problems. MK8 completely shits on this without trying. The point of Mario Kart is kart racing and it fails in the most basic elements of speed and track design.

The game really isn't slow at all, especially if you're actually using the new mechanics to their fullest, which is why this talking point died out when the game actually launched and people played it for more than a couple of minutes at once.

This isn't really many of them when accounting for Wall Riding/Rail Grinding opportunities. Koopa Troopa Beach and Desert Hills, are the biggest offenders, but acting like it's some sort of new problem when 8DX, not even counting the BCP and its abundance of giga-wide straight road Tour tracks, has an abundance of incredibly simple tracks like Baby Park, Excitebike Arena, Water Park, Dolphin Shoals, Cheep Cheep Beach, Dry Dry Desert, and Cheese Land.

The weight stat is largely unchanged, it's just that Heavyweights still follow the convention of lower Accel and Handling to accommodate for the high Speed and Weight. In World, low Accel means it takes forever to get back up to speed (literally) when you inevitably get buttfucked by a stray item, and low Handling makes tight wall riding/rail grinding lines super difficult to pull off. Heavyweights aren't even used for tracks heavy on technical stuff (like Whistlestop Summit and Great ? Block Ruins) in Time Trials, doing them in an online race with up to 23 other people is just a no go without either good enough Handling to make sure a slight jostle doesn't send you face first off the track or into a patch of grass or enough experience and consistency for it not to matter

Im stuck at 8250-8500. I think the items with multiple uses that penetrate blocking items, like the boomerang, fire flower, and ice flower need extreme nerfs. Boomerang should only have 2 throws, flowers 3 charges and they should bother have their frequency halved. Either that or just remove all three items from the game. Also players should not be able to pull golden shoots on 4th.
